Nicht weit vom Ort, auf der "Kalten Küche", befindet sich das Naturparkinformationszentrum mit der Touristinformation. Ein Imbiss sorgt hier für den nötigen Energieschub bis zum Wanderziel. Ein gutes Wanderwege- und Skiwanderwegenetz, auch abseits des Rennsteiges, bietet in Spechtsbrunn Naturerlebnisse in einer geschichtsträchtigen Region. Wir empfehlen Ihnen, Ihr Auto auf den Parkflächen am Roten Berg bei Spechtsbrunn abzustellen und von dort noch ca. 200 m zu Fuß zu gehen. Spechtsbrunn ist Ortsteil der Stadt Sonneberg.
