An der Bergstation der Thüringer Bergbahn in Lichtenhain liegt der Walderlebnispfad Fröbelwald. Dieser Pfad ist nach Friedrich Fröbel benannt, der im benachbarten Oberweißbach geboren wurde. Friedrich Fröbel war Pädagoge und Begründer der Kindergärten. Seinem Sinne folgend vermitteln die einzelnen Stationen des 900 Meter langen Pfades spielerisch und lehrreich Informationen zum Wald und zur Geschichte des Schwarzatals. Alle Sinne berührt der Fröbelwald, so wird der kindliche Spiel- und Entdeckungstrieb bewusst genutzt. Mit Johannes, dem Wandergesellen und Lotte, der Maus erleben die Besucher ganzjährig die traditionellen Handwerke, seltene Baumarten oder die Köhlerei und den Steinbruch. Für Kindergruppen gibt es waldpädagogische Angebote mit altersgerechter Wissensvermittlung zum Wald und zur Forstarbeit.
At the mountain station of the Thuringian mountain railway in Lichtenhain lies the Fröbelwald forest adventure trail. This trail is named after Friedrich Fröbel, who was born in neighbouring Oberweißbach. Friedrich Fröbel was an educator and founder of kindergartens. Following his spirit, the individual stations of the 900-metre-long path convey information about the forest and the history of the Schwarzatal in a playful and instructive way. The Froebel Forest touches all senses, thus consciously using the child's instinct for play and discovery. With Johannes, the journeyman and Lotte, the mouse, the visitors experience traditional crafts, rare tree species or the charcoal burning and the quarry all year round. For children's groups there are forest educational offers with age-appropriate knowledge transfer about the forest and forestry work.
