Die Gemeinde Hallungen, im Tal des Lämpertsbachs, unmittelbar am Hainich liegend, verweist auf die ?Siedlung am Berghang?. Urkundliche Nennungen liegen von 1345 als ?Haldungin? und 1359 als ?Haldungen? vor. Der Ort selbst besitzt viele denkmalgeschützte Häuser. Am Ende der Ortslage befindet sich das Waldbad und bietet somit jedem Urlauber viel Ruhe, Erholung und Entspannung. Mehrere Wanderwege führen um den idyllischen Ort. Wanderungen ins Werratal, als auch über das Waldbad bis hin zum Rennsteig, der als Hauptwanderweg zum Nationalpark ausgeschildert ist, werden für Jedermann zum Naturerlebnis.

La commune de Hallungen, située dans la vallée du Lämpertsbach, à proximité immédiate du Hainich, fait référence à la "Siedlung am Berghang" (colonie sur le versant de la montagne), mentionnée dans les documents de 1345 sous le nom de "Haldungin" et de 1359 sous celui de "Haldungen". Le village lui-même possède de nombreuses maisons classées monuments historiques. Au bout de la localité se trouve la piscine forestière qui offre à chaque vacancier beaucoup de calme, de repos et de détente. Plusieurs sentiers de randonnée font le tour de ce lieu idyllique. Les randonnées dans la vallée de la Werra, ainsi que celles qui passent par la piscine en forêt jusqu'au Rennsteig, qui est le principal sentier de randonnée menant au parc national, sont une expérience naturelle pour tous.

The municipality of Hallungen, located in the valley of the Lämpertsbach stream, right next to the Hainich, refers to the "settlement on the hillside". There are documentary references from 1345 as "Haldungin" and 1359 as "Haldungen". The village itself has many listed houses. At the end of the village is the Waldbad, which offers every vacationer plenty of peace, rest and relaxation. Several hiking trails lead around the idyllic village. Hikes into the Werra valley, as well as via the Waldbad to the Rennsteig, which is signposted as the main hiking trail to the national park, are a nature experience for everyone.
