La Vieille Synagogue dans la Waagegasse fait partie des très rares synagogues médiévales conservées et est la plus ancienne synagogue d'Europe conservée jusqu'au toit. Elle est le témoin de l'une des plus importantes communautés juives du Moyen-Âge. La plus ancienne phase de construction attestée date de 1100. L'ancienne synagogue d'Erfurt présente des témoignages de la culture juive médiévale d'Erfurt. Outre l'histoire de la construction et de l'utilisation de l'ancienne synagogue et des manuscrits médiévaux en fac-similé, le trésor unique d'Erfurt fascine les visiteurs. Un bain rituel juif (mikvé) a été découvert en été 2007 à proximité de l'ancienne synagogue et est intégré dans le concept du musée. Récompensé en 2011 par le Travel Writers' Award en tant que meilleur projet touristique européen. Depuis 2023, il fait partie du patrimoine judéo-médiéval d'Erfurt de l'UNESCO. The Old Synagogue in Waagegasse is one of the very few surviving medieval synagogues and is the oldest synagogue in Europe that has been preserved up to the roof. It is evidence of one of the most important Jewish communities of the Middle Ages. The oldest documented section of the building dates back to around 1100. The Old Synagogue Erfurt presents evidence of Erfurt's medieval Jewish culture. In addition to the history of the construction and use of the Old Synagogue and medieval manuscripts as facsimiles, the unique Erfurt treasure fascinates visitors. In the summer of 2007, a Jewish ritual bath (mikvah) was found near the Old Synagogue, which is incorporated into the museum concept. Winner of the Travel Writers' Award for best European tourism project in 2011. Since 2023 it has been part of the UNESCO Jewish-Medieval Heritage of Frankfurt. Guide dogs and assistance dogs for the blind are allowed in the building.

Die Alte Synagoge in der Waagegasse gehört zu den ganz wenigen erhaltenen mittelalterlichen Synagogen und ist die älteste bis zum Dach erhaltene Synagoge Europas. Sie ist Zeugnis einer der wichtigsten jüdischen Gemeinden des Mittelalters. Der älteste nachgewiesene Bauabschnitt lässt sich um 1100 datieren. In der Alten Synagoge Erfurt werden Zeugnisse mittelalterlicher jüdischer Kultur Erfurts präsentiert. Neben der Bau- und Nutzungsgeschichte der Alten Synagoge und mittelalterlichen Handschriften als Faksimile, fasziniert der einzigartige Erfurter Schatz die Besucher. In der Nähe der Alten Synagoge wurde im Sommer 2007 ein jüdisches Ritualbad (Mikwe) gefunden, welches in das Museumskonzept mit einbezogen wird. 2011 ausgezeichnet mit dem Travel Writers' Award als bestes europäisches Tourismusprojekt. Seit 2023 ist sie Teil vom UNESCO Jüdisch-Mittelalterlichen Erbe Erfurts. Blinden- und Blindenbegleithunde dürfen mitgeführt werden ins Gebäude.
