Le Kunstfest Weimar, fondé en 1990 comme l'une des premières initiatives culturelles germano-allemandes, est le plus grand et le plus connu des festivals d'art contemporain de Thuringe. Depuis 2014, le Kunstfest Weimar est accueilli par le Deutsches Nationaltheater Weimar. De 2014 à 2018, sous la direction artistique de Christian Holtzhauer, le festival s'est ouvert à toutes les formes d'art. Des spectacles invités de danse et de théâtre internationaux et nationaux sont au programme, ainsi que divers formats de concerts, des projets interdisciplinaires, la littérature, le cinéma, les arts visuels et l'art dans l'espace public.

The Kunstfest Weimar, founded in 1990 as one of the first German-German cultural initiatives, is Thuringia's largest and best-known festival for contemporary arts. Since 2014, the Kunstfest Weimar has been hosted by the Deutsches Nationaltheater Weimar. From 2014 to 2018, under the artistic direction of Christian Holtzhauer, the festival has opened up to all art forms. International and national dance and theatre guest performances are on the programme, as are various concert formats, interdisciplinary projects, literature, film, visual arts and art in public space.

Mitteldeutschlands größtes Festival für zeitgenössische Künste verbindet Musik und Theater, Tanz und Bildende Kunst, Literatur und Kunst im öffentlichen Raum. Das Kunstfest Weimar bildet den Höhepunkt und zugleich den Abschluss des Weimarer Sommers. Internationale Künstler aus Deutschland und vielen anderen Ländern sind während des Festivals in Weimar zu Gast und zeigen neue und aufregende Arbeiten und Programme. Auf unterschiedliche Weise greifen die eingeladenen Auf­führungen die zahl­reichen Themen auf, die sich mit dem Namen Weimar und der facettenreichen Geschichte der Stadt verbinden. Künstler hautnah Das Kunstfest versteht sich nicht zuletzt als Fest - als eine gute Gelegenheit also, Publikum und Künstler, Weimarer und Touristen, jüngere und ältere Zuschauer miteinander ins Gespräch zu bringen. Im Festivalzentrum auf dem Theaterplatz kann man die Künstler des Festivals hautnah erleben, sich über das Programm informieren oder einfach nur den Tag ausklingen lassen.

Ce qui a commencé avec Goethe, Schiller et Bach… … est aujourd'hui un forum qui rassemble des œuvres d'art récent issues de genres très variés. Tu y découvriras de la musique et du théâtre, de la danse et des arts plastiques, mais aussi de la littérature et de l’art dans l’espace public.  Les festivités s’étendent à toute la ville et même au-delà. Le centre du festival est la Theaterplatz avec le Théâtre national, mais il y a aussi tout autour des installations, des performances et beaucoup de musique.
