Die Gemeinde Mittelsömmern - zwischen Haus- und Hornsömmern gelegen - liegt in unmittelbarer Nähe des Naturschutzgebiets "Großes Hornholz". Die lange Hauptstraße mit ihren schmucken Häusern und den liebevoll gepflegten Blumenrabatten führt am Ortsende direkt zum "Edelhof". Der "Edelhof", ein denkmalgeschützter Fachwerkbau aus dem 13. Jahrhundert, wurde in den vergangenen Jahren umfangreich rekonstruiert und saniert. So ist er heute kultureller Mittelpunkt des Ortes und wird von den ortsansässigen Vereinen für ihre Veranstaltungen genutzt. Ebenfalls steht der Edelhof mit seinen vielfältigen Räumlichkeiten für private Feierlichkeiten zur Verfügung. Zum jährlichen "Tag des offenen Denkmals" im September kann man den Edelhof besichtigen und vor dem historischen Gebäude das bunte Treiben bestaunen.  Viel Kinderlachen beschert der Gemeinde der eigene kindergarten mit dem besonderen Konzept eines Waldkindergartens.

La municipalité de Mittelsömmern - entre Haussömmern et Hornsömmern - est située à proximité immédiate de la réserve naturelle "Großes Hornholz". La longue rue principale, avec ses jolies maisons et ses bordures de fleurs soignées avec amour, mène directement à l'"Edelhof", à la fin du village. L'"Edelhof", un bâtiment à colombages classé du 13ème siècle, a été largement reconstruit et rénové ces dernières années. Aujourd'hui, il est le centre culturel du village et est utilisé par les associations locales pour leurs événements. L'Edelhof avec ses différentes salles est également disponible pour des festivités privées. Lors de la "Journée annuelle du monument ouvert" en septembre, vous pouvez visiter l'Edelhof et vous émerveiller de l'agitation qui règne devant le bâtiment historique. Le jardin d'enfants de la communauté, avec son concept spécial de jardin d'enfants forestier, fait beaucoup rire les enfants.
