Das Vorderhaus wurde Mitte des 18. Jahrhunderts erbaut und als Gasthaus genutzt. Danach erfolgte die Nutzung als Gerberei bis Mitte des 20. Jahrhunderts. Heute befindet sich das Haus einen sanierungsbedürftigen Zustand. Das Gebäude ist nicht öffentlich zugänglich. Fälschlicher Weise wird das goldene Schiff am Eingangsportal mit Mühlhausens Mitgliedschaft in der Historischen Hanse in Verbindung gebracht, was nicht korrekt ist.
