Between Light and Silence – Still Life Photography In a world devoted to speed, noise, and fleeting impressions, my camera turns toward the opposite: stillness. I create photographic still lifes inspired by the painterly language of the Old Masters – drawing from the dark backgrounds and dramatic light of Caravaggio, the symbolic richness of Dutch vanitas painting, and the contemplative clarity of classical composition. What appears painted is, in fact, photography. This contradiction lies at the heart of my work. It unsettles, intrigues, and invites deeper looking. My images are not digital illusions – they are carefully crafted scenes, built by hand and photographed in natural light, often adjusted over many hours until everything falls into balance: light and shadow, matter and meaning, time and transience. I work with objects full of symbolism – pomegranates, strawberries, glass, metal, cloth – materials that speak, evoke, and signify. The fruit that gleams in overripe abundance becomes a metaphor for fullness and decay. The broken cup, the empty glass, the withered leaf – they hint at what once was and is no longer. In an age of excess, I aim to tell stories through reduction. Through quiet. Through light. Each motif is released in a small edition: ten prints only, regardless of size or material. There are no second editions. Every piece is hand-signed and accompanied by a certificate of authenticity with a holographic seal. My works are printed on Hahnemühle FineArt paper or mounted under acrylic on aluminum dibond, framed in high-quality wood. Formats like 50×60 cm or 60×80 cm allow the images to breathe – to be present without shouting. My collectors – art historians, physicians, interior connoisseurs, thoughtful minds – are drawn to the painterly quality, the quiet intensity, the understated elegance. Many describe a sense of pause, of memory, sometimes even melancholy when encountering my work. I often hear: “I can’t believe this is a photograph” – and that, to me, is the highest compliment: when the camera disappears and only the image remains. They are present-day echoes of a time when art was made by hand – in light and shadow, with patience and devotion.
Entre lumière et silence - Photographie de nature morte Dans un monde voué au rapide, au bruyant et à l'éphémère, mon appareil photo se tourne vers le contraire : le silence. Je crée des natures mortes photographiques qui s'inspirent du langage pictural des maîtres anciens - inspirées par les arrière-plans sombres et la lumière dramatique du Caravage, par la force symbolique de la peinture hollandaise de la vanité et par la rigueur contemplative de la composition picturale classique. Mais ce qui semble peint est en fait une photographie. Et c'est précisément cette contradiction qui est au cœur de mon travail. Elle irrite, fascine et incite à une observation plus approfondie. Car mes œuvres ne sont pas des illusions numériques, mais des scènes construites à la main avec beaucoup de soin. Je travaille de préférence avec des objets chargés symboliquement - grenades, fraises, verre, métal, tissu - des choses qui, dans leur matérialité, parlent, rappellent, signifient. Le fruit qui brille en étant trop mûr devient une métaphore de la plénitude et du déclin. La coupe brisée, le verre vide, la feuille fanée - ils renvoient à ce qui a été et n'est plus. En ces temps d'abondance, je veux raconter avec réduction. Avec le calme. Avec de la lumière. Chaque motif est réalisé en petite édition : dix tirages, indépendamment du format ou du support. Il n'y a pas de deuxième série. Chaque œuvre est signée de ma main et accompagnée d'un certificat d'authenticité - y compris un sceau holographique. L'impression se fait sur du papier Hahnemühle FineArt ou sous acrylique sur Alu-Dibond, encadrée dans du bois de qualité. Des formats comme 50x60 cm ou 60x80 cm permettent aux motifs d'agir sans être bruyants. Mes clients apprécient la proximité de la peinture, la profondeur silencieuse, l'absence d'agitation. En regardant mes œuvres, beaucoup éprouvent un sentiment de pause, de souvenir, parfois de nostalgie. J'entends souvent dire qu'on ne peut pas croire qu'il s'agit d'une photo - et c'est justement le plus beau compliment : quand l'appareil photo disparaît et que seule l'image reste. Mes photographies sont des invitations à voir, pas à faire défiler. Elles ne demandent pas d'explication, mais elles résistent si on la leur demande. Elles sont le souvenir présent d'une époque où l'art était encore fait à la main - dans la lumière et l'ombre, avec patience et dévouement.
Zwischen Licht und Stille – Stilllebenfotografie In einer Welt, die sich dem Schnellen, Lauten und Flüchtigen verschrieben hat, wendet sich meine Kamera dem Gegenteil zu: der Stille. Ich erschaffe fotografische Stillleben, die sich an der malerischen Sprache alter Meister orientieren – inspiriert von den dunklen Hintergründen und dem dramatischen Licht Caravaggios, von der Symbolkraft der niederländischen Vanitas-Malerei und der kontemplativen Strenge der klassischen Bildkomposition. Doch was wie gemalt erscheint, ist Fotografie. Und genau dieser Widerspruch bildet den Kern meiner Arbeit. Er irritiert, zieht in den Bann und fordert zur genaueren Betrachtung heraus. Denn meine Werke sind keine digitalen Illusionen, sondern in aufwendiger Handarbeit aufgebaute Szenen. Ich arbeite bevorzugt mit symbolisch aufgeladenen Objekten – Granatäpfel, Erdbeeren, Glas, Metall, Stoff – Dinge, die in ihrer Materialität sprechen, erinnern, bedeuten. Die Frucht, die überreif glänzt, wird zur Metapher für Fülle und Verfall. Der zerbrochene Kelch, das leere Glas, das verblühte Blatt – sie verweisen auf das, was war und nicht mehr ist. In einer Zeit des Überflusses möchte ich mit Reduktion erzählen. Mit Ruhe. Mit Licht. Jedes Motiv entsteht in kleiner Edition: zehn Abzüge, unabhängig von Format oder Träger. Es gibt keine zweite Serie. Jede Arbeit wird von mir handsigniert und mit einem Echtheitszertifikat versehen – inklusive Hologramsiegel. Gedruckt wird auf Hahnemühle FineArt-Papier oder unter Acryl auf Alu-Dibond, gerahmt in hochwertigem Holz. Sie sind gegenwärtige Andenken an eine Zeit, in der Kunst noch von Hand gemacht wurde – in Licht und Schatten, mit Geduld und Hingabe.
