About: Oberstadt

La commune d'Oberstadt est un village de montagne, mentionné pour la première fois dans un document de 1317. Elle est située dans la partie nord du district de Hildburghausen, au pied de la forêt de Thuringe, à 15 km au sud-ouest de Suhl et à 7 km de Themar. Oberstadt se trouve à 438 m au-dessus du niveau de la mer. Au nord-est de la ville s'élève le Questenberg à 539 m au-dessus du niveau de la mer et, au-dessus, le Galgenberg à 631 m d'altitude. L'église, l'ancien château d'eau et le tilleul de danse vieux de 200 ans valent la peine d'être vus. En 2006, un mémorial a été inauguré en l'honneur du maître chasseur Johann Georg von Langen (1699 - 1776), né au château d'Oberstadt. Les environs de la localité se découvrent de préférence à pied, les chemins forestiers et de randonnée sont bien indiqués. Les buts d'excursion les plus appréciés sont le Schneeberg (692 m au-dessus du niveau de la mer), le chêne Trompetereiche et l'auberge minière "Lange Bahn". La vie associative et culturelle est marquée par la guilde des tireurs, l'association des pompiers, l'association du patrimoine et l'association de la kermesse. Les temps forts culturels annuels sont le marché de Noël et la kermesse. Outre l'agriculture, il existe plusieurs petites entreprises qui emploient au total environ 70 personnes.

The municipality of Oberstadt is a cluster village and was first mentioned in a document in 1317. It is located in the northern part of the Hildburghausen district at the foot of the Thuringian Forest, 15 km southwest of Suhl and 7 km from Themar. Oberstadt is located 438 m above sea level. In the northeast of the town rises the Questenberg with 539 m above sea level and above it the 631 m high Galgenberg. Worth seeing are the church, the former moated castle and the 200 year old dance lime tree. In 2006, a memorial to the chief hunter Johann Georg von Langen (1699 - 1776), who was born in the castle of Oberstadt, was inaugurated. The surroundings of the village can best be explored on foot, the forest and hiking trails are well signposted. Popular destinations for excursions are the Schneeberg (692 m above sea level), the Trompetereiche (trumpet oak) and the mining hut "Lange Bahn". The club and cultural life is characterized by the shooting guild, the fire department, the local history and the fair association. Annual cultural highlights are the Christmas market and the fair. In addition to agriculture, there are several small businesses with a total of about 70 jobs.

Sie liegt im nördlichen Teil des Kreises Hildburghausen am Fuße des Thüringer Waldes, 15 km südwestlich von Suhl und 7 km von Themar entfernt. Oberstadt befindet sich 438 m über dem Meeresspiegel. Im Nordosten des Ortes erhebt sich der Questenberg mit 539 m über NN und darüber der 631 m hohe Galgenberg. Sehenswert sind die Kirche, das ehemalige Wasserschloss und die 200 Jahre alte Tanzlinde. 2006 wurde eine Gedenkstätte für den Oberjägermeister Johann Georg von Langen (1699 – 1776) eingeweiht, der im Schloss zu Oberstadt geboren wurde. Die Umgebung des Ortes lässt sich am besten zu Fuß erkunden, die Wald- und Wanderwege sind gut ausgeschildert. Beliebte Ausflugsziele sind der Schneeberg (692 m über NN), die Trompetereiche und die Bergbaude „Lange Bahn“. Das Vereins- und Kulturleben wird durch die Schützengilde, den Feuerwehr-, den Heimat- und den Kirmesverein geprägt. Jährlich stattfindende kulturelle Höhepunkte sind der Weihnachtsmarkt und die Kirmes. Neben der Landwirtschaft gibt es noch mehrere kleine Unternehmen mit insgesamt rund 70 Arbeitsplätzen.
