Der kleine Ort Katharinenberg liegt an der Bundesstraße B 249 an der hessisch-thüringischen Grenze. Das Ortsbild bestimmt die Ruine einer Klosterkirche aus dem frühen 16. Jahrhundert. Der ausgebaute Chor der Anlage beherbergt die kleine Kirche, die für Gottesdienste genutzt wird. Jährlich Ende Juli findet anlässlich des Kirchweihfestes der heiligen Maria-Magdalena die Katharinenberger Dorfkirmes statt. Der Kirmesverein organisiert für ein Wochenende Spaß und Tanz für Groß und Klein. Im Festzelt treffen sich dann immer Gäste aus Nah und Fern bei ausgelassener Stimmung. Das Herzstück des Gemeindelebens bildet das Dorfgemeinschaftshaus, welches mit beachtlicher finanzieller und materieller Beteiligung der Einwohner und Sponsoren sowie mit Arbeitsleistungen unterstützt wurde. Ein Schmuckstück des Ortes ist der Kinderspielplatz. Seine Gestaltung wurde durch eine Elterninitiative möglich, die die erforderlichen Mittel von Sponsoren organisierte.

Le petit village de Katharinenberg est situé sur la route nationale B 249, à la frontière entre la Hesse et la Thuringe. L'image du village est déterminée par les ruines d'une église monastique datant du début du 16e siècle. Le chœur aménagé de l'installation abrite la petite église qui est utilisée pour les services religieux. Chaque année, fin juillet, la kermesse du village de Katharinenberg a lieu à l'occasion de la fête de la consécration de l'église Sainte-Marie-Madeleine. L'association de la kermesse organise un week-end de divertissement et de danse pour petits et grands. Des invités venus de près ou de loin se retrouvent alors sous le chapiteau dans une ambiance festive. Le cœur de la vie communale est la maison communale du village, qui a été soutenue par une participation financière et matérielle considérable des habitants et des sponsors ainsi que par des prestations de travail. L'aire de jeux pour enfants est un joyau de la localité. Son aménagement a été rendu possible grâce à une initiative parentale qui a organisé les moyens nécessaires auprès de sponsors.

The small village of Katharinenberg is located on the B 249 federal highway on the Hesse-Thuringia border. Every year at the end of July, the Katharinenberg village fair takes place on the occasion of the consecration of the church of St. Mary Magdalene.
