Der Ort Berka ist ein Ortsteil der Stadt Sondershausen und liegt am Fluss Wipper. Das Dorf ist seit dem 12. Jahrhundert belegt und hier lebte der Ur-Urgroßvater des wohl berühmtesten deutschen Dichters Johann Wolfgang Goethe. Die Dorfkirche St. Viti aus dem Jahr 1723 ist eines der prägenden Gebäude des Ortes. Neben der Kirche erbaute man 1852 eine fürstliche Domäne, denn Berka gehörte zu den „Küchendörfern“ des fürstlichen Hofs von Schwarzburg-Sondershausen und versorgte das nahe Residenzschloss mit Gemüse. Heute lädt Berka zum Landurlaub ein und ist angeschlossen an den Unstrut-Werra-Radweg.

The village of Berka is a district of the town of Sondershausen and lies on the river Wipper. The village is documented since the 12th century and the great-great-grandfather of the probably most famous German poet Johann Wolfgang Goethe lived here. The village church St. Viti from 1723 is one of the most characteristic buildings of the village. A princely domain was built next to the church in 1852, as Berka was one of the "kitchen villages" of the princely court of Schwarzburg-Sondershausen and supplied the nearby residential palace with vegetables. Today Berka invites you to a country holiday and is connected to the Unstrut-Werra cycle path.

Le village de Berka est un quartier de la ville de Sondershausen et se situe sur la rivière Wipper. Le village est attesté depuis le 12e siècle et c'est ici que vivait l'arrière-arrière-grand-père de Johann Wolfgang Goethe, probablement le plus célèbre poète allemand. L'église du village St. Viti, datant de 1723, est l'un des bâtiments les plus marquants de la localité.
