Das Eisfelder Kuhschwanzfest, von den Einheimischen liebevoll als "Nationalfeiertag der Eisfelder" bezeichnet, ist eines der traditionsreichsten und größten Volksfeste in Thüringen und findet jährlich über die Pfingsttage statt. Die außergewöhnliche Bezeichnung des Festes geht auf eine Legende zurück, nach der die wehrhaften Eisfelder nach dem Dreißigjährigen Krieg ihre Kanonen notgedrungen mit Kühen statt Pferden zum Schießwettbewerb nach Coburg ziehen mussten. Trotz des Spottes der anderen Mannschaften gewannen die Eisfelder den Ehrenpreis – ein Triumph, der seitdem mit diesem kurios benannten Fest gefeiert wird. Seine Wurzeln reichen bis in das 16. Jahrhundert zurück, als jährliche Waffenübungen der Bürgerwehren stattfanden. Heute ist das mehrtägige Fest eine gelungene Mischung aus historischer Tradition und modernem Partymagnet: Historischer Kern: Kernstück ist der Große Festumzug am Dienstag nach Pfingsten, bei dem historische Figuren wie Herzog Johann Casimir und die Stadtwache auftreten. Historische Wachaufzüge, der Kommandantenritt sowie ein Historischer Markt auf dem Kirchplatz erinnern an die reiche Geschichte der Stadt. Auch die Feuerwehrübung auf dem Markt gehört zu den festen Programmpunkten. Volksfest: Daneben verwandelt sich der Volkshausplatz und der Otto-Ludwig-Garten in eine bunte Festmeile mit großem Rummel, Fahrgeschäften, Schießständen sowie einem Festzelt, das mit Live-Musik und Tanz bis spät in die Nacht zum Feiern einlädt. Schützentradition: Das Pfingstschießen für Jedermann und die feierliche Ehrung der Schützenkönige sind ebenfalls fester Bestandteil des Programms. Das Kuhschwanzfest lockt jährlich Tausende von Besuchern aus nah und fern an und endet traditionell in der Nacht zum Mittwoch mit dem Begraben des Kuhschwanzes.

La fête de la queue de vache d'Eisfeld, affectueusement appelée « fête nationale d'Eisfeld » par les habitants, est l'une des fêtes populaires les plus traditionnelles et les plus importantes de Thuringe. Le nom inhabituel de cette fête remonte à une légende selon laquelle, après la guerre de Trente Ans, les habitants de Eisfelder, bien armés, ont été contraints de transporter leurs canons à Cobourg pour un concours de tir avec des vaches au lieu de chevaux. Its roots date back to the 16th century, when annual weapons exercises were held by the civil guards. Today, the festival, which lasts several days, is a successful blend of historical tradition and modern party magnet: Historical core: The centerpiece is the grand parade on the Tuesday after Pentecost, featuring historical figures such as Duke Johann Casimir and the city guard.
