Le château de Johanniterburg - l'emblème de Kühndorf - est l'ancienne résidence des seigneurs de Kühndorf, cités pour la première fois dans un document de 1137, et appartenait aux comtes de Henneberg vers le milieu du 13ème siècle. Le château a été construit sur les restes d'un château précédent en 1315 par l'ordre de Saint-Jean et a conservé jusqu'à aujourd'hui le caractère d'un ouvrage défensif de style gothique tardif. Au 16ème siècle, des procès de sorcières y ont parfois eu lieu. Aujourd'hui encore, on peut admirer la salle d'audience avec le billot. Depuis 1991, le château est la propriété de la famille von Eichborn. Aujourd'hui, la famille occupe le château à titre privé et se spécialise dans l'organisation de mariages et autres fêtes de famille dans les salles historiques. Visite guidée uniquement de mars à octobre tous les vendredis à 11h00 et 14h00, ainsi que pour les groupes inscrits à partir de 15 personnes sur demande. En combinaison avec une visite guidée, il est également possible de réserver un café ou une collation.
The Johanniterburg - the landmark of Kühndorf - is the former residence of the Lords of Kühndorf, first mentioned in a document in 1137, and was owned by the Counts of Henneberg around the middle of the 13th century. The castle was built on the remains of a predecessor castle in 1315 by the Order of the Knights of St. John and has preserved the character of a late Gothic defensive complex to this day. In the 16th century, witch trials sometimes took place here. Today, the courtroom with a chopping block can still be admired. The castle has been owned by the von Eichborn family since 1991. Today the castle is privately inhabited by the family and specializes in holding weddings and other family celebrations in the historic halls. Guided tour only March to October every Friday 11.00 am and 2.00 pm, and for registered groups of 15 people or more upon request. In connection with a guided tour it is also possible to book coffee table or snack.
Die Johanniterburg - das Wahrzeichen von Kühndorf - ist ehemaliger Ansitz der 1137 erstmals urkundlich genannten Herren von Kühndorf und befand sich um die Mitte des 13. Jh. im Besitz der Grafen von Henneberg. Die Burg ist auf den Resten einer Vorgängerburg 1315 vom Johanniterorden erbaut und hat bis heute den Charakter einer spätgotischen Verteidigungsanlage bewahrt. Im 16. Jh. fanden hier mitunter Hexenprozesse statt. Heute noch kann das Gerichtszimmer mit Hackklotz bestaunt werden. Die Burg ist seit 1991 im Besitz der Familie von Eichborn. Heute wird die Burg von der Familie privat bewohnt und ist auf die Durchführung von Hochzeiten und andere Familienfeiern in den historischen Sälen spezialisiert. Besichtigung nur mit Führung März bis Oktober jeden Freitag 11:00 Uhr und 14:00 Uhr sowie für angemeldete Gruppen ab 15 Personen nach Anfrage. In Verbindung mit einer Führung kann auch eine Kaffeetafel oder ein Imbiss gebucht werden.
