St. Boniface's Church in Frankenbrunn is an important testimony to faith and community spirit. On September 7, 1947, the foundation stone for the church was laid with great joy. Just two years later, on November 20, 1949, Bishop Julius Döpfner - later Cardinal in Munich - solemnly consecrated the church. It was built according to the plans of architect Rüppel in the neo-baroque style. The high altarpiece by Willi Jakob from 1956 deserves a special mention: it shows St. Boniface felling the Dona oak - a symbol of the transition from paganism to Christianity. St. Lioba is kneeling next to him, while angels bring the cross to the formerly pagan land. Fulda, the saint's favorite foundation, can be seen in the background. The high altar is flanked by the figures of St. Anthony of Padua and St. Francis of Assisi. These and the depictions of St. Joseph and St. Michael originally came from St. Michael's Chapel on Hallstatt Hill. The side altars with the figures of Mary and Joseph were created by the Hammelburg sculptor J. Ruppert. The interior of the church was extensively renovated in 1987 and has shone in new splendor ever since.
