Lemnitz is a picturesque municipality in the administrative community of Triptis in the Saale-Orla district of Thuringia, on the edge of the Thuringian Forest. The municipality includes the district of Leubsdorf and is conveniently located close to the A9 highway and the B281 federal highway. Both districts share a common coat of arms, which refers to the family coat of arms of the former von der Gabelentz castle estate and the characteristic Leubsdorf oak tree. Agriculture characterizes the image of the municipality, which is symbolized by an ear of corn in the coat of arms. Behind the village is the "Lemnitzer Hain", a mixed forest that stretches as far as the Auma valley. The place name "Lemnitz" could go back to a Slavic personal name, and the first mentions of it date back to 1378. The baroque Lemnitz Castle, built between 1739 and 1747, was once owned by the linguist Hans Conon von der Gabelentz. Today it is a residential building and a municipal residence. Leubsdorf also has an interesting history, with a former population of 163 inhabitants in 1898 and two manors. The former elementary school now serves as a day care center. The municipality promotes infrastructure and plans to expand residential, leisure and tourism facilities. The carnival association, the youth association and the language and culture association von der Gabelentz e. V. are culturally active. There is also a disabled-friendly nature trail nearby, which invites people to relax and unwind.

Der Ortsname "Lemnitz" könnte auf einen slawischen Personennamen zurückgehen, und erste Erwähnungen stammen aus dem Jahr 1378. Das barocke Lemnitzer Schloss, erbaut zwischen 1739 und 1747, war früher im Besitz des Sprachforschers Hans Conon von der Gabelentz. Heute ist es ein Wohnhaus und ein Gemeindesitz. Leubsdorf hat ebenfalls eine interessante Geschichte, mit einer früheren Bevölkerung von 163 Einwohnern im Jahr 1898 und zwei Rittergütern. Die ehemalige Grundschule dient heute als Kindertagesstätte. Die Gemeinde fördert die Infrastruktur und plant, Wohn-, Freizeit- und Tourismusangebote auszubauen. Kulturell aktiv sind der Faschingsverein, der Jugendverein und der Sprach- und Kulturverein von der Gabelentz e. V. Zudem gibt es einen behindertenfreundlichen Naturlehrpfad in der Nähe, der zu Erholung und Entspannung einlädt.
