Schönstedt est situé au bord du bassin de Thuringe, à cinq kilomètres au nord-ouest de la ville thermale et rosée de Bad Langensalza et aux portes du parc national de Hainich (UNESCO). Schönstedt est mentionné pour la première fois dans des documents au milieu du 9e siècle. La silhouette du village est déterminée par les deux clochers de l'église St. Martini et Beatae Mariae Virginis. Le bâtiment en briques de mâchefer de la Gemeindeschänke, construit en 1899 et qui a fêté son 100e anniversaire en 1999, est un lieu de rencontre culturel et social. Situés directement sur l'Anger réaménagé, ils caractérisent tous deux le centre de Schönstedt.

Schönstedt liegt am Rande des Thüringer Beckens fünf Kilometer nordwestlich der Kur- und Rosenstadt Bad Langensalza und vor den Toren des UNESCO-Nationalparks Hainich. Erstmals urkundlich erwähnt wurde Schönstedt in der Mitte des 9. Jahrhunderts. Die Silhouette des Ortes wird durch die beiden Kirchtürme der Kirche St. Martini und Beatae Mariae Virginis bestimmt. Das 1899 erbaute Klinkergebäude der Gemeindeschänke, die 1999 ihr 100-jähriges Bestehen feierte, ist ein kultureller und sozialer Treffpunkt. Direkt am sanierten Anger gelegen, kennzeichnen beide die Ortsmitte von Schönstedt.

Schönstedt lies on the edge of the Thuringian Basin five kilometres northwest of the spa and rose town of Bad Langensalza and at the gates of the UNESCO Hainich National Park. Schönstedt was first mentioned in documents in the middle of the 9th century. The silhouette of the village is determined by the two church towers of the church St. Martini and Beatae Mariae Virginis. The clinker brick building of the Gemeindeschänke, which was built in 1899 and celebrated its 100th anniversary in 1999, is a cultural and social meeting place. Situated directly on the redeveloped Anger, both characterise the centre of Schönstedt.
