About: Volkenroda

Au nord de l'État libre de Thuringe, à seulement 10 km de Mühlhausen, se trouve Volkenroda, un quartier de la municipalité de Körner. Le pavillon Christus, l'un des plus visités de l'exposition universelle "Expo 2000" de Hanovre, s'intègre parfaitement dans le complexe du monastère de Volkenroda. Le chêne millénaire est une autre attraction importante. Ce monument naturel de valeur est situé à environ 300 au nord-est de Volkenroda et est considéré comme faisant partie d'un pâturage forestier médiéval. Volkenroda est le point de départ ou d'arrivée du chemin de pèlerinage entre le monastère de Volkenroda et le monastère de Loccum Filial près de Hanovre. Le sentier principal passe par Mühlhausen, traverse la vallée de l'Unstrut et rejoint la région d'Eichsfeld. Il relie l'ancien monastère de Reifenstein aux monastères de Bursfelde, Amelungsborn et Fischbeck. Le sentier des monastères dans le nord-ouest de la Thuringe, un sentier secondaire du Chemin de pèlerinage, relie Volkenroda au monastère franciscain du Hülfensberg et à l'ancien monastère de Zella dans l'Eichsfeld. Avec le Klosterweg, un total de neuf monastères et maisons religieuses entre le bassin de Thuringe et l'Eichsfeld sont réunis pour former une route de pèlerinage. Un autre chemin de pèlerinage, la Via Porta, relie le monastère cistercien de Waldsassen au monastère de Volkenroda.

Mittelpunkt des Ortes ist ein Kloster, das auf den Resten einer ehemaligen Reichsburg vom Zisterzienserorden errichtet und 1150 geweiht wurde. Nach der Rekonstruktion und Revitalisierung der Anlage seit 1990 gilt das Kloster Volkenroda als ein Kleinod im Herzen von Deutschland. Doch nicht nur Altes ist hier zu bewundern: Mit dem 2001 hierher verlegten Christus-Pavillon ist ein faszinierendes Ensemble aus Alt und Neu entstanden. Als einer der meistbesuchten Pavillons der Weltausstellung "Expo 2000" in Hannover, fügt sich der Christus-Pavillon perfekt in die Klosteranlage Volkenroda ein. Eine weitere wichtige Attraktion ist die 1000-jährige Eiche. Dieses wertvolle Naturdenkmal befindet sich etwa 300 nordöstlich von Volkenroda und gilt als Teil einer mittelalterlichen Waldweide. Volkenroda ist Ausgangs- bzw. Endpunkt des Pilgerweges zwischen Kloster Volkenroda und dem Filialkloster Loccum bei Hannover. Der Hauptweg führt über Mühlhausen durch das Unstruttal ins Eichsfeld und verbindet das ehemalige Kloster Reifenstein mit den Klöstern Bursfelde, Amelungsborn und Fischbeck. Der Klosterweg im Nordwesten Thüringens, ein Nebenweg des Pilgerweges, verbindet Volkenroda mit dem Franziskanerkloster auf dem Hülfensberg und dem ehemaligen Kloster Zella im Eichsfeld. Mit dem Klosterweg sind insgesamt neun Klöster und Ordenshäuser zwischen dem Thüringer Becken und dem Eichsfeld zu einem Pilgerweg vereint. Ein weiterer Pilgerweg, die Via Porta, verbindet das Zisterzienserkloster Waldsassen mit dem Kloster Volkenroda.

But not only old things can be admired here: The Christ Pavilion, which was moved here in 2001, is a fascinating ensemble of old and new. As one of the most visited pavilions at the world exhibition "Expo 2000" in Hanover, the Christus-Pavillon fits perfectly into the Volkenroda monastery complex. Another important attraction is the 1000-year-old oak tree. This valuable natural monument is located about 300 northeast of Volkenroda and is considered to be part of a medieval forest pasture. Volkenroda is the starting or end point of the pilgrimage trail between Volkenroda Monastery and the Loccum Filial Monastery near Hanover. The main trail leads via Mühlhausen through the Unstrut valley into the Eichsfeld region and connects the former Reifenstein Monastery with the monasteries of Bursfelde, Amelungsborn and Fischbeck. The Monastery Trail in northwest Thuringia, a side trail of the Pilgrims' Way, connects Volkenroda with the Franciscan monastery on the Hülfensberg and the former Zella monastery in the Eichsfeld. With the Klosterweg, a total of nine monasteries and religious houses between the Thuringian Basin and the Eichsfeld are united to form a pilgrimage route. Another pilgrimage route, the Via Porta, connects the Cistercian monastery of Waldsassen with the Volkenroda monastery.
