Le quartier de Waffenrod/Hinterrod est situé sur le versant sud de la forêt de Thuringe, à environ 6 km du sentier de Rennsteig et de la ville d'Eisfeld. Les villages de montagne de Waffenrod et Hinterrod (reconnus comme des stations climatiques de santé) offrent à leurs hôtes paix et détente au milieu d'une nature intacte. Les villages ont été fondés à l'époque médiévale de Rohdungs (11e/12e siècle) et présentent aujourd'hui un paysage culturel typique de la forêt de Thuringe, avec des biotopes de terrain ouvert de grande valeur dans un état essentiellement proche de l'état naturel (creux de source). La route panoramique de Thuringe commence à Waffenrod/Hinterrod. Par beau temps, la vue d'ici est étendue. Vous pouvez voir jusqu'à la région de Coburg et les montagnes du Rhön. Le village de vacances Auenland, avec son restaurant Bergbaude et ses inhabituelles maisons en terre comme hébergement alternatif en montagne, offre aux visiteurs d'un jour et aux vacanciers un lieu de détente où s'arrêter. Le terrain de jeux Mystica et la piste de luge d'été promettent beaucoup de plaisir en été, et pas seulement pour les plus jeunes. En hiver, les pistes de ski de fond menant à Masserberg et Friedrichshöhe permettent des loisirs actifs.

The district Waffenrod/Hinterrod is located on the southern slope of the Thuringian Forest about 6 km from the Rennsteig and the town of Eisfeld. The mountain villages of Waffenrod and Hinterrod (recognised climatic health resorts) offer their guests peace and relaxation in the midst of intact nature. The villages were founded in the medieval Rohdungsperiode (11th/12th century) and today show a typical cultural landscape of the Thuringian Forest with valuable open land biotopes in a predominantly near-natural state (spring hollows). The Thuringian Panorama Road begins in Waffenrod/Hinterrod. From here you have a wide view in good weather. From the Coburger country up to the Rhön one can let his view wander. The holiday village Auenland with the restaurant Bergbaude and the extraordinary earth houses as an alternative mountain accommodation offer day guests and holidaymakers a relaxed break. The adventure playground "Mystica" as well as the summer toboggan run promise a lot of fun not only for the younger guests in the summer months. In winter, cross-country ski trails to Masserberg and Friedrichshöhe allow active recreation.

Der Ortsteil Waffenrod/Hinterrod liegt am Südhang des Thüringer Waldes ca. 6 km vom Rennsteig und der Stadt Eisfeld entfernt. Die Bergdörfer Waffenrod und Hinterrod (anerkannte Luftkurorte) bieten ihren Gästen Ruhe und Entspannung inmitten intakter Natur. Die Orte wurden in der mittelalterlichen Rohdungsperiode (11./12. Jh.) gegründet und zeigen heute eine typische Kulturlandschaft des Thüringer Waldes mit wertvollen Offenlandbiotopen in überwiegend naturnahem Zustand (Quellmulden). In Waffenrod/Hinterrod beginnt die Thüringer Panoramastraße. Von hie aus hat man bei gutem Wetter eine weite Fernsicht. Vom Coburger Land bis hin in die Rhön kann an seinen Blick schweifen lassen. Das Feriendorf Auenland mit dem Restaurant Bergbaude und den außergewöhnlichen Erdhäusern als alternative Beherbergungsmöglichkeit bieten Tagesgästen und Urlaubern eine entspannte Einkehr. Der dortige Erlebnisspielplatz "Mystica" sowie die Sommerrodelbahn versprechen nicht nur den jüngeren Gästen in den Sommermonaten viel Spaß. Im Winter erlauben gespurte Loipen bis Masserberg und Friedrichshöhe aktive Erholung.
