Schon vor vielen Jahren, als diese Straße noch nicht gebaut war, bedeutete es, dass man an dieser Stelle den höchsten Punkt des alten Handelsweges nach Eisenach erreicht hatte. Von hieraus ging es dann abwärts Richtung Mihla. Eine am Standort befindliche “ Struppige Eiche“ war ein Orientierungspunkt für alle, die diesen Weg über den Hainich benutzten. Es wird auch vermutet, dass sich an dieser Stelle eine altheidnische Opferstätte befand. Die alte Eiche ist wahrscheinlich von einem Blitzschlag zerstört worden. Der Begriff „Struppeiche“ hat sich bis in die heutige Zeit erhalten. Von Mitgliedern der Laubgenossenschaft Langula wurde am Standpunkt der alten Eiche im Jahr 2000 ein neuer Baum gepflanzt.

Many years ago, when this road had not yet been built, it meant that the highest point of the old trade route to Eisenach had been reached at this point. From here, the road descended towards Mihla. A "shaggy oak" at the site was a landmark for all those who used this route over the Hainich. It is also believed that an ancient pagan sacrificial site was located here. The old oak was probably destroyed by a lightning strike. The term "Struppeiche" has survived to this day. Members of the Langula foliage cooperative planted a new tree on the site of the old oak in 2000.
