Breitenworbis est une commune située dans le district thuringien d'Eichsfeld. Breitenworbis est le siège de la communauté administrative Eichsfeld-Wipperaue et se compose de deux quartiers, Breitenworbis et Bernterode. Avec ses 3 500 habitants, elle compte parmi les plus grandes communes du district d'Eichsfeld. Elle abrite le siège administratif de la communauté administrative « Eichsfeld-Wipperaue ». La première mention écrite de la commune date de 1238 sous le nom de Breytenworbetze. La commune est traversée par le Rhin, qui prend sa source au pied des montagnes de l'Ohm et se jette dans la Wipper à Bernterode. Le charmant paysage du village est caractérisé par les chaînes de montagnes boisées des monts Ohm, Harburg et Hubenberg. Les curiosités de la commune sont les peintures voûtées classées monument historique de l'église catholique Saint-Vitus, dont la construction a commencé en 1681, et de nombreuses maisons à colombages bien conservées. Breitenworbis is the seat of the Eichsfeld-Wipperaue administrative community and consists of two districts—Breitenworbis and Bernterode—and, with 3,500 inhabitants, is one of the largest municipalities in the Eichsfeld district. The Rhin river flows through the municipality, rising at the foot of the Ohm mountains and flowing into the Wipper near Bernterode. The charming landscape of the village is characterized by the wooded hills of the Ohm Mountains, the Harburg and the Hubenberg. Sights in the municipality include the vaulted ceiling of the Catholic St. Vitus Church, which is a listed building and whose construction began in 1681, and many well-preserved half-timbered houses. A variety of restaurants, a community hall, and a fairground invite visitors to linger. The municipality has a sports field, a sports hall, and a dog training area for recreational activities. Breitenworbis ist eine Gemeinde im thüringischen Landkreis Eichsfeld. Breitenworbis ist Sitz der Verwaltungsgemeinschaft Eichsfeld-Wipperaue und besteht aus zwei Ortsteilen - Breitenworbis und Bernterode - und zählt mit 3500 Einwohnern zu den größten Gemeinden des Landkreises Eichsfeld. Sie beherbergt den Verwaltungssitz der Verwaltungsgemeinschaft "Eichsfeld- Wipperaue". Die urkundliche Ersterwähnung datiert aus dem Jahr 1238 als Breytenworbetze. Durch die Gemeinde fließt der Rhin, der am Fuße des Ohmgebirges entspringt und bei Bernterode in die Wipper mündet. Die reizvolle Landschaft des Dorfes wird geprägt durch die bewaldeten Höhenzüge des Ohmgebirges, der Harburg und des Hubenberges. Sehenswürdigkeiten der Gemeinde sind die unter Denkmalschutz stehende Gewölbemalerei der katholischen St. Vitus-Kirche, mit deren Bau im Jahre 1681 begonnen wurde, und viele gut erhaltene Fachwerkhäuser. Eine Vielzahl von Gaststätten, Gemeindesaal und Festplatz laden zum Verweilen ein. Als Freizeitanlagen verfügt die Gemeinde über einen Sportplatz, eine Sporthalle und einen Hundesportplatz.
