<p>Die 1631 erstmals erwähnte Mühle, die auch als Loh- und Mahlmühle diente, hatte ein Gefälle von knapp 4 Ellen (2,20 Meter).</p><p>Das Nebengebäude der Mühle, direkt am Popperöder Bach gelegen, ist ein schöner alter Steinbau mit darüber liegendem Fachwerk. An einem Balken der Giebelfront lesen wir: „Den 17. Oktober ist das Gericht [errichtet] worden Anno 1679“. Da die Mühle bereits früher erwähnt wird, weist diese Inschrift auf einen Umbau hin.</p><p>Ein weiterer Umbau erfolgte nachweislich 1848. Ein Stein mit dieser Jahreszahl wurde in den Bau integriert. Im Jahre 1889 waren die Brüder Julius und August Werner die Besitzer der Mühle. Die Eisengießerei Schmidt & Gruhle erwarb 1924 die Mühle zur Erweiterung ihrer Räumlichkeiten. Das Mühlrad war noch bis 1958 vorhanden - es war das letzte erhaltene am Popperöder Bach. Die Gebäude der Mühle sind größtenteils noch vorhanden. Das Mühlengebäude wurde 1994 für die Wohnnutzung saniert. Das historische Steinhaus mit Fachwerkaufbau wurde in den darauffolgenden Jahren restauriert und für Gewerbezwecke hergerichtet. Westlich der Mittelmühle ist noch gut der alte Mühlgraben (heute trocken) zu erkennen.</p> |

<p>The mill was first mentioned in 1631 and also served as a bark mill and grinding mill. It had a gradient of 4 ells or 2.20 metres. The southern annexe to the building, situated directly next to the Popperode Creek, is a beautiful old stone structure with a timber framed structure on top. On a baulk of the gable wall we find the inscription “Erected on the 17th October in the year 1679.” Since the mill was already mentioned earlier, this inscription indicates that the building had been altered.</p><p>Records indicate that another reconstruction took place in 1848. There is also a stone incorporated into the building that has “1848” engraved. In 1889 the brothers Julius and August Werner were the owners of the mill. The iron foundry Schmidt & Gruhle acquired the mill in 1924 and extended the premises. The mill wheel was still in place in 1958 – the last one on display at the Popperode Creek. The mill buildings are for the most part still existent today. During a reconstruction in 1994 the mill was converted into a housing complex. The historic stonewall building with a half-timbered top was henceforth renovated and converted to house commercial premises. To the west of the Middle Mill one can still recognise the old millrace, which, of course, is dry today.</p> |

Sur une poutre du pignon, nous lisons : "Le 17 octobre, le tribunal a été établi en 1679". Comme le moulin est déjà mentionné auparavant, cette inscription indique qu'il a été transformé.</p><p>Il est prouvé qu'une autre transformation a eu lieu en 1848 et qu'une pierre portant cette date a été intégrée dans la construction. En 1889, les frères Julius et August Werner étaient les propriétaires du moulin. En 1924, la fonderie de fer Schmidt & Gruhle a acheté le moulin pour agrandir ses locaux. La roue du moulin était encore présente jusqu'en 1958 - c'était la dernière conservée sur le ruisseau de Popperode. Les bâtiments du moulin existent encore en grande partie. Le bâtiment du moulin a été rénové en 1994 pour une utilisation résidentielle. La maison historique en pierre avec une structure à colombage a été restaurée dans les années qui ont suivi et aménagée à des fins commerciales. À l'ouest du moulin central, on reconnaît encore bien l'ancien fossé du moulin (aujourd'hui à sec).</p> |
