La vallée, avec ses prairies verdoyantes, ses endroits paisibles offrant de larges vues et de grands peuplements d'arbres frais, tire son nom du Kirschbach, qui, en tant qu'affluent droit du Lottenbach, coule d'Obergrunstedt vers Weimar. La vallée intacte de Weimar Kirschbach est une destination populaire pour les photographes et les familles. Pendant les mois d'été, on y trouve non seulement des excursionnistes et des sportifs amateurs, mais aussi de grands troupeaux de moutons qui paissent dans la vallée inférieure, au nord-est de la ville. Même à l'époque de Goethe, la vallée était un motif populaire pour les dessins à l'encre et les aquarelles.
The valley with its lush green meadows, peaceful places with wide views and large cooling stands of trees takes its name from the Kirschbach, which - as the right tributary of the Lottenbach - flows from Obergrunstedt towards Weimar. The unspoilt Weimar Kirschbach Valley is a popular destination for photographers and families alike. In the summer months, not only excursionists and amateur athletes can be found here, but also large flocks of sheep graze in the lower valley towards the northeast of the city. Even in Goethe's time, the valley served as a popular motif for ink drawings and watercolours.
Namensgebend für das Tal mit sattgrünen Wiesen, friedlichen Plätzen mit weiten Aussichten und großen kühlenden Baumbeständen ist der Kirschbach, der – als rechter Nebenfluss des Lottenbachs – von Obergrunstedt aus Richtung Weimar fließt. Das naturbelassene Weimarer Kirschbachtal ist ebenso beliebtes Ziel für Fotografen wie auch für Familien. In den Sommermonaten sind hier nicht nur Ausflügler und Hobbysportler anzutreffen, auch große Schafherden weiden im unteren Talverlauf hin zum Nordosten der Stadt. Schon zu Goethes Zeiten diente das Tal als beliebtes Motiv für Tuschezeichnungen und Aquarelle.
