About: Tanna

Avec environ 4.000 habitants et 87 km², la ville de Tanna est l'une des plus grandes communes de l'arrondissement de Saale-Orla en termes de superficie. Elle a été fondée aux 12e et 13e siècles en tant que colonie allemande, à l'époque sous le nom de "Tan". Les premiers écrits remontent à l'année 1232 et sont donc considérés comme la première mention de la localité dans un document. Les témoins en pierre de l'évolution ultérieure sont malheureusement rares, car le village a été victime de nombreux incendies au fil des ans. Ainsi, l'église Saint-André, située sur une petite colline, a brûlé en 1640 et a été reconstruite par la suite. De l'ancienne église, il reste l'entrée principale avec sa croix dans un encadrement en pierre et la voûte d'arête dans la partie arrière de l'église. Après que la localité ait été dotée de droits de ville et de marché en 1494, de nombreux marchés aux bestiaux s'y sont tenus, qui ont acquis à l'époque une importance suprarégionale. La principale industrie développée à Tanna au 19e siècle était cependant la broderie. Les nombreuses maisons en briques rouges, qui abritaient autrefois des ateliers de broderie, en témoignent encore dans toute la localité.

With around 4,000 inhabitants and 87 km², the town of Tanna is one of the largest municipalities in the Saale-Orla district in terms of area. It was founded in the 12th - 13th century as a German settlement, at that time still under the name "Tan". The first records date back to 1232 and are therefore the first documented mention of the village. Unfortunately, there are hardly any stone witnesses to the subsequent development, as the village fell victim to many fires over the years. St. Andrew's Church, perched on a small hill, burned down in 1640 and was subsequently rebuilt. The main entrance with its cross in a stone surround and the cross vault at the back of the church still remain from the old church. After the town was granted town and market rights in 1494, numerous cattle markets were held here, which were of supra-regional importance at the time. However, the main industry that developed in Tanna in the 19th century was embroidery. The numerous red-brick houses throughout the town, all of which once housed embroidery workshops, still bear witness to this.

Die Stadt Tanna ist mit ca. 4.000 Einwohnern und 87 km² eine der flächenmäßig größten Gemeinden im Saale-Orla-Kreis. Sie wurde im 12. bis 13. Jahrhundert als deutsche Siedlung, damals noch unter dem Namen „Tan“, gegründet. Erste Aufzeichnungen gehen auf das Jahr 1232 zurück und gelten somit als urkundlich erste Erwähnung des Ortes. Steinerne Zeugen der nachfolgenden Entwicklung gibt es leider kaum noch, da der Ort im Laufe der Jahre vielen Feuersbrünsten zum Opfer fiel. So brannte auch die auf einer kleinen Anhöhe thronende St. Andreas Kirche 1640 nieder und wurde danach neu erbaut. Von der alten Kirche stammen noch der Haupteingang mit seinem Kreuz in steinerner Einfassung und das Kreuzgewölbe im hinteren Teil der Kirche. Nachdem der Ort 1494 mit Stadt- und Marktrechten versehen wurde, fanden hier zahlreiche Viehmärkte statt, die damals überregionale Bedeutung erlangten. Als Hauptindustriezweig entwickelte sich in Tanna im 19. Jahrhundert jedoch das Stickereigewerbe. Davon zeugen im gesamten Ort noch die zahlreichen roten Ziegelhäuser, die früher allesamt Stickereien beherbergten.
