For centuries, “Buckelapotheker” (humpback pharmacists) from the heights of the Thuringian Forest travelled through Europe with their “Kraxen”, large baskets carried on their backs, which gave them their name “Buckelapotheker”, and which were filled with natural remedies. Even back then, people knew about the manifold healing powers in the plants of the mountains. Today, on a seven-hectare site, the “Rennsteiggarten” has almost 4,000 plants on display from all over the world. |
