A church, which stands in the middle of the village is already mentioned in the Middle Ages and belonged at that time to the hospital Römhild. The townscape is still dominated by mostly Franconian half-timbered buildings. In direct proximity of the small Haufendorfes lie the Gleichberge: two wooded Basaltkuppen, the "small one" with 642 meters height, the "large one" with 679 meters not much higher. They are the landmarks of this landscape. The three basalt ramparts, which also gave the small Gleichberg the name Steinsburg, are the opposing remains of a fortification from the Celtic period.

Une église située au milieu du village est déjà mentionnée au Moyen-Âge et appartenait alors à l'hôpital de Römhild. Aujourd'hui encore, l'image du village est marquée par des bâtiments à colombages franconiens. Les Gleichberge se trouvent à proximité immédiate du petit village de montagne : deux sommets basaltiques boisés, le "petit" culminant à 642 mètres et le "grand" à 679 mètres, à peine plus haut. Ce sont les emblèmes de la région. Les trois remparts en basalte, qui ont valu au petit Gleichberg le nom de Steinsburg, sont les vestiges opposés d'une fortification datant de l'époque celte.

Eine Kirche, die mitten im Dorf steht, wird bereits im Mittelalter genannt und gehörte damals zum Hospital Römhild. Das Ortsbild prägen auch heute noch größtenteils fränkische Fachwerkbauten. In unmittelbarer Nähe des kleinen Haufendorfes liegen die Gleichberge: zwei bewaldete Basaltkuppen, der "Kleine" mit 642 Metern Höhe, der "Große" mit 679 Metern nicht viel höher. Sie sind die Wahrzeichen dieser Lanschaft. Bei den drei Basaltwällen, die dem kleinen Gleichberg auch den Namen Steinsburg einbrachten, handelt es sich um die opponierenden Überreste eine Befestigungsanlage aus der Keltenzeit.
