In idyllischer Lage, unterhalb des Kindels, liegt der Ort Hütscheroda. Er wurde bereits durch jährlich wiederkehrende Bildhauersymposien bundesweit bekannt. Man gab ihm deshalb den Namen "Kunstdorf am Hainich". 1990 wurde das dortoge ehemalige Herrenhaus restauriert und dient jetzt als Hotel mit einer Kapazität von 70 Betten und einer Gaststätte. Das alte Rittergut wurde bereits 1305 erstmals als Schafstall mit Wohngebäude erwähnt. 1587 baute es Bernhard von Wangenheim zum Wohnsitz um. Ein sechs Kilometer langer Skulpturenwanderweg verläuft vom Park in Hütscheroda über die Wüstung Heßwinkel und am Hainich entlang bis zum Skulpturenpark in Behringen. Auf dieser Wanderung können Sie bei gutem Wetter Ausblicke zum Inselsberg, dem sogenumwobenen Hörselberg, zu den Kammlagen des Thüringer Waldes und auf den Nationalpark Hainich genießen.

A six-kilometre-long sculpture trail runs from the park in Hütscheroda via the deserted village of Heßwinkel and along the Hainich to the sculpture park in Behringen.
