Eine Besonderheit in der Weihnachtswelt des Thüringer Waldes ist die Firma Marolin. Mit dem ungewöhnlichen und zarten Material des Papiermachés werden hier bereits in der 5. Generation Krippenfiguren und Christbaumschmuck aus diesem besonderen Material nach geheimer Rezeptur gefertigt. Das Material, welches leicht ist wie Papier und über eine porzellanartige, feine und helle Struktur verfügt, fasziniert in seiner Einzigartigkeit. Ein Besuch der Werkstatt, in der man das besondere Material kennenlernen kann, wird mit der Erläuterung der Inhaberin Frau Forckel besonders spannend. Sogar das Anfassen der Rohmasse ist erlaubt! Aber auch nostalgischer Christbaumschmuck aus historischen Formen wird in Handarbeit gefertigt und ergänzt das Sortiment. Sowohl der Christbaumschmuck aus Papiermaché wie auch aus Glas werden in der Firma bemalt und zum Abschluss mit einer feinen Patina überzogen, die ihnen ein nostalgisches Aussehen verleiht. Nicht fehlen darf dabei auch die Bestückung mit originalen Eisenhütchen als Aufhängung.
