Am Haupteingang des Fürstlich Greizer Parks (265 m ü. NN ) wandert man am Sommerpalais und am Küchenhaus vorbei, über die Luftbrücke – bergan zur Idahöhe und dem 100 m entfernten Aussichtspunkt mit Blick auf das „Obere Schloss“ – weiter bergauf zum Rastplatz „Teufelskanzel“ (360 m ü. NN) – vorbei an den sagenumwobenen "Klingensteinen" (397 m ü. NN) – nach 3,5 km erreicht man Amtsreuth (406 m ü.NN) – leicht bergabgehend, am Vogelherd, kommt man auf die Forststraße nach Bretmühle – vorbei an der Kreuzung Ringelgraben gelangt man nach 2 km an den „Lugenberg“ (365 m ü. NN ) – nach 300 m zum Forstrastplatz „Schießstand“ - an der nächsten Kreuzung des Bretmühlenweges biegt der EPW nach links in Richtung des sagenträchtigen Moosgrabens ab – weiter über den linksseitigen Hammerberg, erreicht man nach 7,3 km der Tagesetappe den herrlich gelegenen Röschnitzgrund (245 m ü.
