Auf 14 km führt der Radweg an der Schillerkirche in Jena-Ost vorbei, die so heißt, weil hier Friedrich von Schiller im Jahr 1790 Charlotte von Legefeld ehelichte. Im weiteren Verlauf passiert der Radweg die Dorfkirchen von Jenaprießnitz, Großlöbichau und Kleinlöbichau. Informationstafeln am Radweg informieren über die Kirchenbauten, die auch besichtigt werden können. In Thalbürgel befindet sich dann die beeindruckende Klosterkirche am Radweg. Die ab dem 12. Jahrhundert errichtete Kirche eines ehemaligen Bendiktinerklosters besticht durch ihre Größe, den baulichen Details, wie den reich verzierten Säulen am Eingangsportal und dem klaren romanischen Innenraum. Der Radweg verläuft von Jena aus durch das Gembdental bergan bis nach Kleinlöbichau. Von unterwegs ergeben sich aufgrund der offenen Lage des Radwegs immer wieder schöne Fernsichten ins Saaletal, ins Gleistal und zum Thüringer Holzland. Der Kirchenradweg lässt sich ab Thalbürgel mit dem Thüringer Mühlenradweg und dem Saaleradwanderweg gut zu einer Rundweg kombinieren.

The cycle path runs from Jena through the Gembden valley uphill to Kleinlöbichau. From the route, there are repeatedly beautiful panoramic views into the Saale valley, the Glei valley, and the Thuringian woodlands due to the open location of the cycle path. The church cycle path can be well combined from Thalbürgel with the Thuringian Mill Cycle Path and the Saale cycle path into a circular route.
