Beginnend am Altmarkt führt der Weg vorbei am Lutherhaus hinauf zu Schloss Wilhelmsburg. Hier bietet sich der erste eindrucksvolle Ausblick über die Fachwerkstadt. Man sollte sich ausreichend Zeit nehmen für dieses einzigartige Juwes unter den Renaissance-Schlössern Deutschlands. Für einen lohnenswerten Rundgang im Schlossmuseum sollte man etwa 1 bis 2 Stunden zusätzlich vorsehen. Man verlässt die Schlossanlage durch das Tor an der Ostseite und gelangt über Walrabstraße und Schlossgartenstraße in Richtung des Schmalkalder Hausberges Queste. Am Steinrück eröffnet sich erneut ein toller Ausblick auf die im Tal liegende Reformationsstadt. Über Kibitzenburg, Schlossküchenweg, Grüner Weg, Künkelsgasse und Pfaffengasse erreicht man bereits wieder das Altstadtzentrum. Der Reformationsgarten, der Park Fontaine, das Fachwerkerlebnishaus, der Hof der Alten Schule Neu, der Park am Katzensprung und die Steinerne Wiese bilden die sehenswerten Stationen auf dem Weg zum Ausgangspunkt auf dem Altmarkt

Partant de l'Altmarkt, le chemin passe devant la maison Luther jusqu'au château Wilhelmsburg. Ici, la première vue impressionnante sur la ville à colombages s'offre à vous. Il faut prendre suffisamment de temps pour ce joyau unique parmi les châteaux de la Renaissance en Allemagne. Pour une visite intéressante du musée du château, prévoir environ 1 à 2 heures supplémentaires. On quitte l'enceinte du château par la porte à l'est et on se dirige via la Walrabstraße et la Schlossgartenstraße vers la colline locale de Schmalkalden, la Queste. Au Steinrück, une nouvelle vue splendide sur la ville de la Réforme située dans la vallée s'ouvre. Par Kibitzenburg, Schlossküchenweg, Grüner Weg, Künkelsgasse et Pfaffengasse, on atteint à nouveau le centre-ville historique. Le jardin de la Réformation, le parc Fontaine, la maison d'expérience du colombage, la cour de la vieille nouvelle école, le parc Katzensprung et la Steinerne Wiese sont les étapes remarquables sur le chemin vers le point de départ à l'Altmarkt.

Starting at the Altmarkt, the route leads past the Luther House up to Wilhelmsburg Castle. Here, you get the first impressive view over the half-timbered town. Allow yourself plenty of time for this unique jewel among Germany’s Renaissance castles. For a worthwhile tour of the castle museum, plan an additional 1 to 2 hours. You leave the castle grounds through the east gate and continue via Walrabstrasse and Schlossgartenstrasse towards the Schmalkalden local mountain Queste. At Steinrück, another great view opens up over the Reformation town lying in the valley. Via Kibitzenburg, Schlosskuechenweg, Grüner Weg, Kuenkelsgasse, and Pfaffengasse, you will soon reach the old town center again. The Reformation Garden, Fontaine Park, the half-timbered experience house, the courtyard of the old Neu school, the park at Katzensprung, and the Stone Meadow are notable stations on the way back to the starting point at Altmarkt.
