Erster Zwischenstopp ist die St. Katharinenkirche Eichigt mit ihren spätgotischen Wandmalereien. Anschließend geht es hinab ins Elstertal nach Adorf, wo Sie mit dem Freiberger Tor das älteste Stadttor im Vogtland kennenlernen. Nutzen wir die Gelegenheit, hier das Museum zu besichtigen. In den südlichsten Zipfel des sächsischen Vogtlands führt die Etappe dann nach Schönberg. Vom Schloss oder vom nahe gelegenen Kapellenbergturm haben Sie einen schönen Ausblick in die weite Tiefebene des Egerlands. Nun geht es von Bad Elster aus ins Ascher Ländchen. Neben den Vögten von Weida waren hier die Familie von Neuberg und von Zedtwitz von Einfluß. Zeugnisse dieser mittelalterlichen Herrschaft finden Sie heute in Krugsreuth und vor allem in Neuberg, wo man beim Streifzug durch das Gelände der einstigen Burg deren einstige Bedeutung gut nachvollziehen kann.
