Vom "Bad Vilbeder Platz", am Fuße der Kirche St. Nicolai, führt die kurze Wanderung entlang der "Rennsteig-Leiter Brotterode" durch schmale Gassen der Höhstrasse und Alte Ruhlaer Strasse hinaus aus dem Erholungsort zur Brotteröder Hütte am Rennsteig. Skisprungfans haben währenddessen immer wieder einen überwältigenden Blick über den Ort und die gegenüber liegende Seimbergschanze. Die Schanzenanlage ist öffentlich und die vielen Treppen hinauf zum Schanzentisch lohnen sich. Am Rennsteig angekommen, bleibt die Wahl zur weiteren Wanderung: Hier kann man dem Kammweg in Richtung Dreiherrenstein wandern oder zum Großen Inselberg aufbrechen.

Depuis "Bad Vilbeder Platz", au pied de l'église St. Nicolai, la courte randonnée longe la "Rennsteig-Leiter Brotterode" à travers les ruelles étroites de Höhstrasse et Alte Ruhlaer Strasse, sortant de la station de détente jusqu'à la cabane de Brotteröder sur le Rennsteig. Les amateurs de saut à ski bénéficient en même temps d'une vue toujours impressionnante sur la commune et la tremplin de saut Seimbergschanze en face. L'aire des tremplins est publique et les nombreuses marches qui mènent au sommet des tremplins valent le détour. Arrivé au Rennsteig, le choix pour continuer la randonnée reste : on peut suivre le sentier de crête en direction du Dreiherrenstein ou partir vers le Grand Inselberg.

From "Bad Vilbeder Platz", at the foot of St. Nicolai Church, the short hike along the "Rennsteig Ladder Brotterode" leads through narrow alleys of Höhstrasse and Alte Ruhlaer Strasse out of the resort to the Brotteröder Hut on the Rennsteig. Ski jumping fans meanwhile often have an overwhelming view over the town and the opposite Seimberg ski jump. The ski jump facility is open and the many stairs up to the jump table are worth it. Once you reach the Rennsteig, you have the choice for further hiking: here you can walk the ridge path towards Dreiherrenstein or set off to the Großer Inselberg.
