Der Wanderweg führt auf einem kurzen Abschnitt auf dem Premiumwanderweg DER HOCHRHÖNER auf die Wasserkuppe. Mit 950 Metern ist die Wasserkuppe nicht nur der höchste Berg der Rhön und von Hessen; der Berg ist auch die Geburtsstätte des Segelfliegens, welches von 1901 bis heute, auf diesem betrieben wird. Auf einem kleinen Abstecher zum Zentrum der Wasserkuppe erreicht man unterschiedliche Gastronomie-Betriebe und Erinnerungsläden. Unterhalb des Radoms führt die Rundwanderung weiter über die Wasserkuppe, bevor es auf einem bequemen Weg in Richtung des Guckaisees weiter geht. Der Guckaisee ist ein Natursee mit zwei Wasserflächen - eine dient den Anglern und eine dem Freizeitvergnügen mit Schwimmen und Paddeln. Dort und am Heckenhöfchen, im weiteren Verlauf der Strecke, kann eingekehrt werden. Durch Wälder und Wiesen führt der Weg anschließend weiter zurück zum Ausgangspunkt am Wanderparkplatz Abtsroda. Auch in dem Ort gibt es eine Einkehrmöglichkeit zum Abschluss der Wanderung.

Le chemin de randonnée suit un court tronçon sur le sentier premium DER HOCHRHÖNER jusqu’à la Wasserkuppe. Avec 950 mètres, la Wasserkuppe est non seulement la plus haute montagne de la Rhön et de la Hesse, mais aussi le berceau du vol à voile, pratiqué ici depuis 1901 jusqu’à aujourd’hui. Par un petit détour jusqu’au centre de la Wasserkuppe, on trouve plusieurs établissements de restauration et boutiques souvenirs. Sous le radôme, la randonnée continue sur la Wasserkuppe avant de poursuivre par un chemin confortable en direction du Guckaisee. Le Guckaisee est un lac naturel avec deux plans d’eau : l’un est réservé aux pêcheurs, l’autre au plaisir de la baignade et du canotage. Il est possible de s’arrêter pour se restaurer au Guckaisee et au Heckenhöfchen, plus loin sur le parcours. Par des forêts et des prés, le chemin ramène ensuite au point de départ, au parking de randonnée d’Abtsroda. Il y a également une possibilité de restauration dans le village pour clôturer la randonnée.

The hiking trail leads for a short section on the premium trail DER HOCHRHÖNER to the Wasserkuppe. At 950 meters, the Wasserkuppe is not only the highest mountain of the Rhön and of Hessen; the mountain is also the birthplace of gliding, which has been practiced here from 1901 to the present. On a small detour to the center of the Wasserkuppe, you reach different gastronomic establishments and souvenir shops. Below the radome, the circular hike continues over the Wasserkuppe before it goes on a comfortable path towards the Guckaisee. The Guckaisee is a natural lake with two water surfaces - one is for anglers and one for recreational activities like swimming and paddling. There and at Heckenhöfchen, further along the route, you can stop for refreshments. Through woods and meadows, the path then continues back to the starting point at the hiking car park Abtsroda. There is also an option to stop for food in the village to finish the hike.

Die Anreise mit dem Auto ist über die A7 und die A66 möglich. Die A7 verlässt man über die Ausfahrt 92 Fulda-Mitte und fährt auf die B458 in Richtung Hilders. Auf Höhe des kleinen Ortes Steinwand biegt man rechts in Richtung Poppenhausen ab. Nur wenige Hundert Meter hinter dem Ortseingang biegt man links auf die Groenhoffstraße ab.
