Ruhla hatte in den 1980er Jahren mehr Industriearbeitsplätze als Einwohner, war Sitz zweier Kombinatsstammbetriebe und ein Schwerpunkt der Uhren-, Maschinen- und Elektroindustrie der DDR. Mit der Wiedervereinigung erfolgte der Zusammenbruch der Industriebetriebe. Leerstehende Häuser und Industriebrachen wurden abgerissen oder umgetsaltet. Die Ausmaße von einst lassen sich heute kaum noch erahnen. So auch die zahlreichen Gebäude der Uhrenwerke Ruhla. Mit der Industrieroute Ruhla Nord soll an die ehemals vorhandene und neue Innovationskraft der Menschen in Ruhla und ihrer Unternehmungen, Firmen, Produkte und Dienstleistungen erinnert werden. Auf einer Gesamtlänge von 10 km können 4 Stationen besichtigt werden. Schwerpunkt sind die Gebäude der Uhrenwerke Ruhla auch UWR genannt. Ein anschließender Besuch im Uhrenmuseum Ruhla verdeutlicht die Schaffens- und Innovationskraft der Rühler, welche weit hinaus in die Welt getragen wurde. Das Museum befindet sich im ehemaligen Verwaltungssitz von UWR. Heute ist dort die Firma Point Tec ansässig und produziert firmeneigene hochwertige Uhren. Die Ruhlaer Uhren werden in der Uhrenmanufaktur Ruhla in Wutha-Farnroda weiter produziert.

L'ampleur d'autrefois est désormais à peine imaginable, notamment pour les nombreux bâtiments des manufactures horlogères de Ruhla. La route industrielle Ruhla Nord rappelle l'ancienne et la nouvelle force d'innovation des habitants de Ruhla et de leurs entreprises, produits et services. Sur une longueur totale de 10 km, quatre stations peuvent être visitées. Le point central est constitué par les bâtiments des manufactures horlogères de Ruhla, aussi appelées UWR. Une visite au musée de l'horlogerie de Ruhla met en lumière la créativité et l'innovation des habitants de Ruhla, reconnues mondialement. Le musée se trouve dans l'ancien siège administratif de l'UWR. Aujourd'hui, la société Point Tec y est établie et produit des montres haut de gamme propres à l'entreprise. Les montres de Ruhla sont toujours fabriquées dans la manufacture horlogère à Wutha-Farnroda.

In the 1980s, Ruhla had more industrial jobs than inhabitants, was headquarters of two combine main operations, and a focal point of the watch, machinery, and electrical industry of the GDR. With reunification, the industrial operations collapsed. Vacant houses and industrial ruins were demolished or redesigned. The scale of what once existed is barely imaginable today. The numerous buildings of the Ruhla Watch Factory (UWR) are no exception. The Industrieroute Ruhla North commemorates the formerly existing and new innovative strength of the people in Ruhla and their enterprises, companies, products, and services. Along a total length of 10 km, four stations can be visited. The focus is on the buildings of the Ruhla Watch Factory, also called UWR. A subsequent visit to the Ruhla Watch Museum highlights the creative and innovative power of the people of Ruhla, which reached far beyond the world. The museum is located in the former administrative headquarters of UWR. Today, the company Point Tec is based there, producing high-quality proprietary watches. Ruhla watches continue to be produced at the Ruhla watch manufactory in Wutha-Farnroda.
