In Saalfeld startend, verläuft die Tour zunächst entlang der Saale auf dem Saale-Radweg in Richtung Rudolstadt. Hier verlässt man das Saaletal und fährt nun bergan nach Schaala über die historische Wehrkirche bis zum Ferienhof Domäne Groschwitz - ein Besuch lohnt sich. Ab Groschwitz befährt man die „Herrenstraße“, sie verband die herrschaftlichen Güter Heidecksburg und Groschwitz, in Richtung Rudolstadt. Es folgen leicht fahrbare Waldwege und Singletrails, welche über Mörla in Richtung Hain bis zur Löwenbank führen. Hier kann man eine Pause einlegen und den Ausblick auf Rudolstadt genießen. Von dort geht es weiter bergab bis zur Rudolstädter Heidecksburg. Hier lohnen sich ein Rundgang durch das barocke Schloss und der Blick über die Stadt. Über einen der Schlossaufgänge geht es hinunter zum Marktplatz mit dem Rathaus. Durch schöne Altstadtgassen und über die Saale fährt man schließlich zum Heinrich-Heine-Park und dem Freilichtmuseum „Thüringer Bauernhäuser", die zum Verweilen einladen. Zum Ende der Tour folgt ein kurzer, aber knackiger Anstieg zum Marienturm. Hier kann man einkehren und die Aussicht auf Rudolstadt, die Heidecksburg und das Saaletal genießen. Weiter führt der Weg über Forststraßen und Singletrails nach Schlosskulm. Nun ist die Etappe fast geschafft: Nach einer schnellen Abfahrt nach Remschütz ist der Ausgangspunkt der Tour rasch erreicht.

À la fin du parcours suit une montée courte mais intense jusqu'au Marienturm. Là, on peut faire une pause et profiter de la vue sur Rudolstadt, la Heidecksburg et la vallée de la Saale. Le chemin continue par des routes forestières et des singles trails vers Schlosskulm. L’étape est presque terminée : après une descente rapide vers Remschütz, le point de départ est rapidement atteint.

Starting in Saalfeld, the route initially runs along the Saale on the Saale cycle path towards Rudolstadt. Here you leave the Saale valley and now ride uphill to Schaala via the historic fortified church to the holiday farm Domäne Groschwitz – a visit is worthwhile. From Groschwitz, you ride the "Herrenstraße", which connected the manorial estates Heidecksburg and Groschwitz, towards Rudolstadt. Then follow easily rideable forest paths and single trails, which lead over Mörla towards Hain up to the Löwenbank. Here you can take a break and enjoy the view of Rudolstadt. From there it goes downhill to the Rudolstadt Heidecksburg. A tour through the baroque castle and the view over the town are worthwhile. Via one of the castle exits, go down to the marketplace with the town hall. Through beautiful old town alleys and past the Saale, you finally ride to Heinrich Heine Park and the open-air museum "Thuringian Farmhouses", inviting to linger. Towards the end of the route, a short but steep climb leads to the Marienturm. Here you can stop and enjoy the view of Rudolstadt, Heidecksburg, and the Saale valley. The path then leads over forest roads and single trails to Schlosskulm. The stage is almost done: after a quick descent to Remschütz, the starting point of the route is quickly reached.
