Der Lehrpfad verläuft als Rundweg um den Dreistromstein zwischen Friedrichshöhe und Siegmundsburg. Der markante Obelisk steht seit 1906 direkt am Rennsteig und kennzeichnet die Wasserscheide zwischen Rhein, Weser und Elbe. Für Naturfreunde bietet die Route abwechslungsreiche Eindrücke: Der Weg führt durch Bergwiesen, Hochmoore und typische Fichtenwälder des Thüringer Waldes. Besonders zur Blütezeit zeigen die Bergwiesen eine große Vielfalt an Farben und Formen. Der Dreistromstein selbst ist ein in Deutschland einzigartiges hydrographisches Denkmal. Seine besondere Symbolik zeigt sich im Sockel, der aus drei Gesteinsarten besteht: Granit steht für das Einzugsgebiet der Elbe, Quarz für den Rhein und Grauwacke für die Weser. Entlang des Weges eröffnen sich immer wieder schöne Ausblicke auf die offene Landschaft der Bergwiesen. Charakteristisch sind zudem der würzige Duft der Bärwurz, das wogende Wollgras in den Moorbereichen und die leuchtend gelben Arnikablüten.

Le sentier pédagogique fait une boucle autour du Dreistromstein entre Friedrichshöhe et Siegmundsburg. L'obélisque caractéristique se tient depuis 1906 directement sur le Rennsteig et marque le partage des eaux entre le Rhin, la Weser et l'Elbe. Pour les amoureux de la nature, ce parcours offre des expériences variées : le chemin traverse des prairies de montagne, des tourbières et des forêts d'épicéas typiques de la forêt de Thuringe. En particulier pendant la floraison, les prairies montagneuses dévoilent une grande variété de couleurs et de formes. Le Dreistromstein lui-même est un monument hydrographique unique en Allemagne. Sa symbolique particulière se révèle dans son socle, qui est composé de trois types de roches : le granit représente le bassin versant de l'Elbe, le quartz celui du Rhin et la grauwacke celui de la Weser. Tout au long du chemin, de beaux panoramas s'ouvrent régulièrement sur le paysage ouvert des prairies de montagne. Caractéristique également, l'arôme épicé de la gentiane, les massettes ondoyantes dans les zones marécageuses et les fleurs d'arnica jaune éclatant.

The nature trail runs as a circular route around the Dreistromstein between Friedrichshöhe and Siegmundsburg. The distinctive obelisk has stood directly on the Rennsteig since 1906 and marks the watershed between the Rhine, Weser, and Elbe. For nature lovers, the route offers varied impressions: the path leads through mountain meadows, raised bogs, and typical spruce forests of the Thuringian Forest. Especially in bloom time, the mountain meadows show a great variety of colors and shapes. The Dreistromstein itself is a unique hydrographic monument in Germany. Its special symbolism is shown in the base, which consists of three types of rock: granite stands for the Elbe catchment area, quartz for the Rhine, and graywacke for the Weser. Along the way, there are always beautiful views of the open landscape of mountain meadows. Characteristic are also the spicy scent of the wild allspice, the waving cotton grass in the moor areas, and the brightly yellow arnica flowers.
