Die Tour beginnt direkt am Rennsteig gegenüber des Parkplatzes am Wintersportler-Ehrenmal am Ortsausgang Ernstthal in Richtung Piesau. Vorbei am Ehrenmal geht es zuerst auf gerade Strecke hinauf bis zum Frankenblick. Dort hält sich der Skiläufer rechts und setzt seine Tour auf einem schnurgeraden Weg fort. Nach ca. 3 km wird der Abzweig zum Skilift „Am Pappenheimer Berg“ erreicht. Weiter geht es nach rechts und nach ca. 300m wieder nach rechts bis zur Bergstation des Skiliftes dann oberhalb der Skipisten, vorbei am „Ernstthaler Mond“, weiter bis zur Skimeisterfichte. Dort biegt die Spur nach links ab. Der Rest der Strecke verläuft parallel zur Straße bis zum Ausgangspunkt am Ehrenmal. Diese Skiwandertour kann beliebig verlängert werden, da ca. 25 km Skiwanderwege rund um Ernstthal präpariert werden und es verschiedene Möglichkeiten gibt, in die Skiwanderwege von Lauscha bzw. Neuhaus/Rwg. einzusteigen. Skifahrer haben ohne Unterbrechung Anbindung an die Skiwanderwege von Lauscha, Neuhaus und Spechtsbrunn.

Le parcours commence directement au Rennsteig en face du parking du monument aux sportifs d'hiver à la sortie d'Ernstthal en direction de Piesau. En passant par le monument, on monte d'abord sur un trajet rectiligne jusqu'au Frankenblick. Là, le skieur se tient à droite et poursuit son parcours sur un chemin droit. Après environ 3 km, on atteint la bifurcation vers le téléski "Am Pappenheimer Berg". On continue à droite, puis après environ 300 m, de nouveau à droite jusqu'à la station de montagne du téléski, ensuite au-dessus des pistes de ski, passant par "Ernstthaler Mond", puis jusqu'au Skimeisterfichte. Là, la trace tourne à gauche. Le reste du parcours se déroule parallèlement à la route jusqu'au point de départ au monument. Cette randonnée de ski peut être prolongée à volonté, car environ 25 km de pistes de ski de randonnée sont préparés autour d'Ernstthal et il existe différentes possibilités d'accéder aux pistes de ski de Lauscha ou Neuhaus/Rwg. Les skieurs ont une connexion ininterrompue aux pistes de ski de Lauscha, Neuhaus et Spechtsbrunn.

The route starts directly at the Rennsteig opposite the car park at the Winter Sportsmen’s Memorial at the exit of Ernstthal towards Piesau. Passing the memorial, the skier first continues straight uphill to Frankenblick. There the skier keeps right and continues along a straight path. After about 3 km, the junction to the ski lift “Am Pappenheimer Berg” is reached. Continue to the right, and after about 300 m turn right again to the mountain station of the ski lift, then above the ski slopes, past the “Ernstthaler Mond,” further to the Skimeisterfichte. There the track turns left. The rest of the route runs parallel to the road back to the starting point at the memorial. This ski hiking route can be extended as desired, as about 25 km of ski hiking trails around Ernstthal are groomed, and there are various possibilities to join the ski hiking trails from Lauscha or Neuhaus/Rwg. Skiers have seamless connections to the ski hiking trails of Lauscha, Neuhaus, and Spechtsbrunn.
