Le parcours de randonnée est une route très variée, avec un tracé très intéressant. Les points forts sont la vue sur la vallée de la Wipper, la montagne de sel de la mine de potasse ainsi que les pierres frontalières historiques. Sur les 3/4 du parcours, une petite auberge invite à faire une pause et à se restaurer. Par ailleurs, au moins 7 aires de repos sont disponibles.

The hiking route is a very varied stretch which has a very interesting course. Highlights are the view into the Wippertal, the potash spoil heap of the potash mine and the historic border stones. A small inn invites you to pause and refresh yourself on 3/4 of the route. Otherwise, there are at least 7 resting places available.

Die Wanderroute ist eine sehr abwechslungsreiche Strecke, welche über einen sehr interessanten Verlauf verfügt. Highlight sind der Ausblick in das Wippertal, die Kalihalde des Kalischachts  sowie die geschichtsträchtigen Grenzsteine. Auf 3/4 der Strecke lädt ein kleines Gasthaus zum pausieren und stärken ein. Ansonsten sind mindestens 7 Rastmöglichkeiten gegeben.

Am Waldrand angekommen, lädt ein kleine Bank des <a href="https://www.naturpark-kyffhaeuser.de">Naturpark-Kyffhäuser</a> zum verweilen ein. Von hier kann man die ganze Stadt Sondershausen einsehen. Folgt man dem naturbelassenen Waldweg kommt nach weiteren Rastmöglichkeiten, an einen Kreuzungspunkt, wo sich der Steinberg-Rundweg und der Johan-Karl-Wezelweg trennen. Folgt man dem grünen Strich erreicht man einen kleinen aber sehr interessanten und historischen Waldweg, welcher die Grenze zum heutigen Landkreis Nordhausen definiert. Entlang des ca. 1,5 Kilometer langen Abschnitts reihen sich in Regelmäßigen Abständen die Grenzsteine, welche noch an die Residenzzeiten der Stadt Sondershausen erinnern. Am Ende von diesem Abschnitt gelangt man in das Hammatal, durch welches sich neben dem Steinberg-Rundweg ebenso der <a href="https://www.stadt-heringen.de/startseite.html">Heringer</a> Weg schlängelt. Kurz hinter dem Ortseingangsschild von Sondershausen befindet sich die kleine gemütliche <a href="https://www.stille-liebe-sondershausen.de">Gaststätte "Stille Liebe"</a> sowie der aktuell ausgetrocknete Hammateich. Der Weitere Weg führt durch ein kleines Wohngebiet mit Einfamilienhäusern auf den Wipperdamm. Hier lässt wunderbar wandern und der Blick in den <a href="https://www.thueringerschloesser.de/objekt/schloss-sondershausen-mit-park/">Stadtpark mit seinem Residenzschloss</a> genießen. Vorbei an Gärtner mit individueller Anbaukultur und einer Sportanlage, gelangt man, nach 11 Kilometern und dem Überwinden von über 100 Höhenmetern, wieder zum Ausgangspunkt der Wanderroute.</p>
