Le chemin du parc naturel commence par une montée sur le chemin serpentant vers la cabane Sennigshütte, où une source offre de la fraîcheur. Ensuite, en grimpant le long de la paroi Backhauswand, on atteint Alt Horba avec la cabane Finsterlohkopf. Une plateforme offre une vue vers Königsee et Oberschöbling et l'aire de la cabane invite à la pause. En hauteur, on traverse les forêts de pins aux senteurs épicées, passant près de la cabane Moosleitenhütte jusqu'au Banc Blanc qui porte bien son nom. Ici, le chemin du parc naturel se sépare du chemin de crête. Passant près de la cabane en rondins, il se dirige via une petite flaque de sable vers la vallée Auerhahnsgrund. Là, une autre cabane invite à la pause ou l'on peut faire halte à l'aire de repos dans Seilersgrund, avant que le chemin du parc naturel ne revienne par la vallée Bärenbachtal le long de plusieurs étangs de poissons vers le point de départ de la randonnée à la porte du parc naturel Paulinzella. La zone de randonnée est située entre la forêt de Thuringe et le bassin de Thuringe dans une zone marginale de grès rouge. Le paysage plat environnant diffère nettement par son apparence et sa végétation des paysages montagneux de la forêt de Thuringe et est donc désigné comme une région naturelle distincte appelée Paulinzellaer Buntsandsteinland. L'eau stagnante des hauts plateaux s'écoule en d'innombrables ruisseaux qui déchirent le paysage et alimentent de nombreux étangs. En raison de la qualité médiocre des sols, la région est principalement boisée. De vieilles forêts mixtes de montagne composées d’épicéas, de hêtres, de pins et de sapins caractérisent le paysage. Particulièrement remarquables sont les riches populations de fourmis forestières bâtisseuses de monticules. Pour ceux qui reviennent affamés de la randonnée à Paulinzella, une visite aux étangs du monastère le long de la route country vers Rottenbach est recommandée. Les exploitants y invitent à la dégustation de poissons fumés et de sandwichs au poisson de toutes sortes.

The nature park route starts with an ascent on the Serpent Trail to the Sennigshütte, where a spring offers refreshment. Further uphill along the Backhaus wall you reach Alt Horba with the Finsterlohkopf hut. A platform offers views towards Königsee and Oberschöbling and the hut area invites you to rest. At the height, you walk through the spicy-scented pine forests past the Moosleiten hut to the White Bench, which lives up to its name. Here the nature park route branches off from the high-altitude path. Past the block hut the nature park route turns via the small sandy puddle towards the capercaillie valley. Here again a hut invites you to rest or you can take a break at the rest area in the Seilers valley, before the nature park route leads back through the Bärenbach valley along some fish ponds to the starting point of the hike at the nature park gate Paulinzella. The hiking area is located between the Thuringian Forest and the Thuringian Basin in a fringe zone of sandstone. The plateau-like landscape around differs distinctly in appearance and vegetation from the mountain landscapes of the Thuringian Forest and is therefore designated as a separate natural area with Paulinzella Sandstone Land. The wetlands of the plateau drain into countless streams that dissect the landscape and provide water for numerous ponds. Due to the poor quality of the soils, the area is predominantly wooded. Old mixed mountain forests of fir, beech, pine and spruce shape the scenery. Particularly remarkable are the rich populations of mound-building wood ants. Those who arrive hungry in Paulinzella after the hike are recommended to visit the monastery ponds on the country road towards Rottenbach. The operators there invite you to stop for smoked fish and all kinds of fish sandwiches.

Der Naturpark-Weg startet mit einem Anstieg auf dem Schlangenweg zur Sennigshütte, wo eine Quelle Erfrischung bietet. Weiter bergauf entlang der Backhauswand erreicht man Alt Horba mit der Finsterlohkopfhütte. Eine Plattform gewährt Aussicht Richtung Königsee und Oberschöbling und das Hüttenareal lädt zur Rast ein. Auf der Höhe wandert man durch die würzig duftenden ­Kiefernwälder vorbei an der Moosleitenhütte zur Weißen Bank, die ihrem Namen alle Ehre macht. Hier zweigt der Naturpark-Weg vom Höhenweg ab.Vorbei an der Blockhütte wendet sich der Naturpark-Weg über die kleine Sandpfütze dem Auerhahnsgrund zu. Hier lockt wieder eine Hütte zur Rast oder man legt am Rastplatz im Seilersgrund  eine Pause ein, bevor sich der Naturpark-Weg durchs Bärenbachtal entlang einiger Fischteiche wieder dem Ausgangspunkt der Wanderung am Naturpark-Tor Paulinzella zuwendet. Das Wandergebiet liegt zwischen dem Thüringer Wald und dem Thüringer Becken in einer Randzone aus Buntsandstein. Die plattenartige Landschaft ringsum unterscheidet sich im Aussehen und Bewuchs deutlich von den Gebirgslandschaften des Thüringer Waldes und wird deshalb als eigener Naturraum mit Paulinzellaer Buntsandsteinland bezeichnet. Die Staunässe der Hochebenen entwässert in unzählige Bäche, die die Landschaft zertalten und Wasser für zahlreiche Teiche spenden. Wegen der minderen Qualität der Böden ist das Gebiet überwiegend bewaldet. Alte Bergmischwälder aus Tannen, Buchen, Kiefern und Fichten prägen das Bild. Besonders bemerkenswert sind die reichen Vorkommen an hügelbauenden Waldameisen. Wer Paulinzella hungrig von der Wanderung wieder erreicht, für den empfiehlt sich der Besuch der Klosterteiche an der Landesstraße Richtung Rottenbach. Die Betreiber laden dort zur Einkehr mit geräuchertem Fisch und Fischbrötchen aller Art ein.
