Wetten, dass Sie im Schloss einen Blick auf Ihre Füße werfen werden? Klingt seltsam, hat aber einen guten Grund: Hier wird eine Schuhsammlung mit nahezu untragbaren Exemplaren gezeigt. Fürstenhaus Weißenfels: Das Fürstenhaus wurde 1673 durch Johann Moritz Richter, dem Baumeister des Schlosses Neu-Augustusburg, erbaut und diente vorwiegend als Dienst- und Wohnsitz wichtiger Wohnbeamter. Das Haus spiegelt die Formsprache des Barock wider. Über dem Durchgangsportal des Fürstenhauses befinden sich Figuren, die Minerva und Merkur darstellen. Die englische Neun-Felder-Decke im Festsaal macht das Fürstenpalaiseinmalig. Schloss Neu-Augustusburg mit Schlosskirche und Fürstengruft: Schloss Neu-Augustusburg ist eine der größten frühbarocken Schlossanlagen Mitteldeutschlands, gebaut von 1660–1694 als Residenz der Herzöge von Sachsen Weißenfels, einer sächsischen Nebenlinie. Die Schlosskirche St. Trinitatis mit der fürstlichen Grablege (38 Prunksarkophage) dokumentiert noch heute die einzigartige barocke Pracht. Musikerpersönlichkeiten wie Johann Sebastian Bach und Georg Friedrich Händel sind eng mit der Schlossgeschichte verbunden. Im Museum Weißenfels im Schloss Neu-Augustusburg werden neben Sonderausstellungen auch eine Ausstellung zur Stadtgeschichte gezeigt. International bekannt ist die einmalige Sammlung historischer und völkerkundlicher Schuhe - das Schuhmuseum. Über eine Treppenanlage geht es hinunter in die Altstadt, vorbei am Geleitshaus bis zum Heinrich-Schütz-Haus. Dort wird es musikalisch. Gustav-Adolf-Gedenkstätte / Geleitshaus: Das 1552 im Renaissancestil erbaute Haus diente bis 1555 zunächst als Wohnhaus. Später nahm es die Funktion des kurfürstlichen Geleitsamtes ein. 1632 wurde im Erkerzimmer der Leichnam des Schwedenkönigs Gustav II. Adolf obduziert. Die Gustav-Adolf-Gedenkstätte erinnert an den 30-jährigen Krieg und die Auswirkungen auf Weißenfels sowie an die Schlacht bei Lützen. Glanzstück der Ausstellung ist ein Diorama mit 10.000 Zinnfiguren sowie der vermeintliche Blutfleck des Königs im Obduktionszimmer. Heinrich-Schütz-Haus: Das Heinrich-Schütz-Haus ist das einzige original erhaltene Wohnhaus des Komponisten. Hier schuf Heinrich Schütz sein Alterswerk. Höhepunkt der Ausstellung bildet die Komponierstube, die zwei Notenfragmente von der Hand des Musikers präsentiert. Das Heinrich Schütz Musikfest findet jährlich im Oktober statt. Stadtpark: Der Stadtpark lädt zu jeder Jahreszeit zur Erholung und Entspannung ein. Einst als Schießgraben angelegt, diente er von 1522 bis 1904 als Friedhof. Danach wurde er als Park umgestaltet. Der Weißenfelser Schusterjunge, eigentlich Stadtjunge, kam durch die tief verwurzelte Schuhtradition in Weißenfels zu seinem Namen. Das Novalisgrab, eine Büste erinnert an einen der bekanntesten Söhne von Weißenfels, Friedrich von Hardenberg (1772-1801). Er ist besser bekannt unter dem Namen Novalis. Er fand hier, auf dem ehemaligen Friedhof, seine letzte Ruhestätte. Er wurde kaum 30 Jahre alt. Kloster Sankt Claren: Das ehemalige Klarissenkloster wurde im Jahre 1301 am heutigen Standort erbaut. Nach Einführung der Reformation entstand ab 1540 aus dem Kloster ein Frauenstift. Während der Weißenfelser Herzogszeit gründete Herzog August von Sachsen- Weißenfels 1664 das „Gymnasium Illustre Augusteum“. In dieser Art Oberschule wurden der Adel und die zukünftigen Beamten des Landes ausgebildet. Novalis-Gedenkstätte: Im Haus Klosterstraße 24 lebte Friedrich von Hardenberg, genannt Novalis, mit seiner Familie von seinem 13. Lebensjahr bis zu seinem frühen Tod mit 29 Jahren. Als bedeutendster deutscher Frühromantiker ging er in die Literaturgeschichte ein. Die international geschätzte Ausstellung dokumentiert Leben und Werk des Dichters. Sehenswert sind der Garten mit Pavillon und seine Grabstätte im Stadtpark. Rathaus: Das barocke Rathaus wurde in seiner heutigen Gestalt im Jahr 1722 eingeweiht. Vom Vorgängerbau, das durch Stadtbrände zerstört wurde, sind lediglich die Grundmauern und das Untergeschoss mit dem Sitznischenportal erhalten. Am Rathausturm befinden sich zur Marktseite zwei Uhren sowie eine Mondphasenuhr. Die beiden, das Stadtwappen tragenden, Löwen künden von der langen Verbindung der Stadt zu den Wettinern. Minervaund Justitia auf dem Balkon dienen als Mahnung an die Stadtoberen, weise und gerecht zu handeln Kirche Sankt Marien: Die Stadtkirche Sankt Marien wurde 1303 geweiht. Die spätgotische dreischiffige Hallenkirche wurde im 15./16. Jahrhundert umfassend erneuert und vergrößert. Der Kirchturm wurde nach einem zerstörerischen Brand im Jahr 1718 im barocken Stil wieder errichtet. Vorübergehend fungierte die Stadtkirche auch als repräsentative Hofkirche, aus dieser Zeit stammen auch die wichtigsten Ausstattungsgegenstände. Du bâtiment précédent, détruit par des incendies de ville, seuls les fondations et le sous-sol avec le portail niche avec siège subsistent. Deux horloges sur la tour côté marché ainsi qu'une horloge des phases de lune sont visibles. Les deux lions portant les armoiries de la ville témoignent du long lien avec la dynastie des Wettin. Minerve et Justitia sur le balcon rappellent aux autorités de la ville d'agir avec sagesse et justice. Église Saint-Marie : L'église principale Saint-Marie a été consacrée en 1303. L'église-halle à trois nefs de style gothique tardif a été largement rénovée et agrandie aux 15e/16e siècles. Le clocher a été reconstruit dans le style baroque après un incendie dévastateur en 1718. L'église a temporairement servi d'église de cour représentative, période d'où datent aussi les principaux objets d'ameublement.
