40 Tafeln erzählen die finstere Geschichte von 1945 bis 1990 und beleuchten Grenzanlagen, Zwangsaussiedlung und das Leben an der ehemaligen Grenze.  Naben den zahlreichen Erinnerungsobjekten und dem ein oder anderen ehemaligen Grenzturm steht das Naturerlebnis an der Strecke im Fokus. Immerhin bewegt man sich dort am Grünen Band. Die reduzierte Landnutzung in der Zeit der Grenzführung begünstigte den Erhalt seltener Tier- und Pflanzenarten. Diese leben heute in Fülle entlang des Friedensweg Rhön.  Genießt die Ausblicke auf das Land der offenen Fernen, die wallenden Wiesen und rauschenden Wälder während ihr auf dem Friedenweg Rhön unterweg seid.

Im Ort angekommen folgt man der Beschilderung zum Deutsch-Deutschen Grenzmuseum und dem dortigen Parkplatz.

Die Autobahn wird hierzu an der Ausfahrt 22 Meiningen-Süd verlassen. Man fährt für kurze Zeit auf der L3089 in Richtung Meiningen bevor man links nach Ritschenhausen abbiegt. Am Ortsausgang biegt man rechts in Richtung Henneberg ab. Im Ort angekommen folgt man der Beschilderung zum Deutsch-Deutschen Grenzmuseum und dem dortigen Parkplatz.</p>

On suit cette route jusqu'à la bifurcation vers Leubach. À Leubach, on peut tourner vers Frankenheim, puis de Frankenheim vers Birx. Peu après, on atteint le point de départ de la randonnée.</p> <p><strong>Henneberg</strong></p> <p>Henneberg est accessible par l'A71. On quitte l'autoroute à la sortie 22 Meiningen-Süd. On emprunte brièvement la L3089 en direction de Meiningen avant de tourner à gauche vers Ritschenhausen. À la sortie du village, on tourne à droite vers Henneberg. À l'arrivée au village, on suit la signalisation vers le musée germano-germanique et son parking.</p>
