Einstieg ist in Sömmerda am Riedtor. Dort befinden sich gleich zwei Kanuverleih-Stationen. Die Unstrut zieht ihren Weg an Sömmerda vorbei hin zu den Leubinger Kiesseen. Weiter geht es über Griefstedt und Riethgen, wo bei Streckenhälfte ein Wehr zu überwinden ist. An Gorsleben vorbeiziehend ist bereits die Thüringer Pforte mit den beiden Sachsenburgen unübersehbar. Vor Sachsenburg präsentiert sich die 1833 erbaute prächtige Bogenbrücke, ihre Ausmaße sind der breiten Flutmulde geschuldet, die hier Fluss und Flutgraben überspannt.   Das Unstruttal trennt hier die Hainleite scharf von der Schmücke ab. Zwei Bundesstraßen und eine Eisenbahnstrecke teilen sich den markanten Taleinschnitt mit der hier meist friedlich dahinfließenden Unstrut. Nach Passage der Thüringer Pforte dränght sich bereits das Etappenziel Oldisleben ins Blickfeld. Gleich hinter der Auto-Brücke ist mit der Bootstreppe das Etappenziel im Kyffhäuserland erreicht.

Le départ se fait à Sömmerda au Riedtor. Deux stations de location de canoës s'y trouvent. L'Unstrut contourne Sömmerda en direction des gravières de Leubingen. Le parcours continue par Griefstedt et Riethgen, où un barrage doit être franchi à mi-parcours. En passant près de Gorsleben, la porte de Thuringe avec ses deux châteaux saxons devient bien visible. Avant Sachsenburg se présente le magnifique pont en arc construit en 1833, ses dimensions sont dues à la large plaine inondable qui englobe ici la rivière et le fossé d'eau.   La vallée de l’Unstrut sépare nettement ici la Hainleite de la Schmücke. Deux routes nationales et une voie ferrée partagent ce profond vallon marqué par l’Unstrut qui coule ici paisiblement. Après avoir franchi la porte de Thuringe, l’objectif de l’étape, Oldisleben, apparaît déjà à l’horizon. Juste derrière le pont routier, la rampe de mise à l’eau marque l'arrivée dans la région du Kyffhäuser.

The entry point is in Sömmerda at the Riedtor. There are two canoe rental stations located there. The Unstrut flows past Sömmerda towards the Leubinger gravel lakes. It continues via Griefstedt and Riethgen, where a weir must be overcome at the halfway point. Passing Gorsleben, the Thuringian Gate with its two Saxon castles is already unmistakable. Before Sachsenburg, the magnificent arch bridge built in 1833 presents itself; its dimensions are due to the wide floodplain that spans the river and flood channel here.   The Unstrut valley sharply separates the Hainleite from the Schmücke here. Two federal highways and a railway line share the distinctive valley cut alongside the usually peacefully flowing Unstrut. After passing the Thuringian Gate, the stage destination Oldisleben already comes into view. Immediately behind the road bridge, the stage destination in the Kyffhäuserland is reached with the boat steps.
