Die Gemeinde Elgersburg liegt an der Nordseite des Thüringer Waldes auf einer Höhe von 500 Metern. Der Ort wird von der beeindruckenden Burg geprägt und seiner ehemaligen Kaltwasserkuranstalt.  Startpunkt der Wanderung ist das Tretbecken am Ortsausgang in der Steigerstraße. Von dort geht es hinauf auf die Alexandrinenhöhe, einem ehemalig belibten Aussichtspunkt in das Thüringer Becken.  In einem großen Bogen wird der Rumpelsberg umwandert. Dabei bieten sich Abstecher zur Hohen Warte, dem Möchshorf sowie dem Schöffenhaus an. ohne dass unmittelbar diese Ausflugsziele angelaufen werden.

La commune d'Elgersburg est située sur le versant nord de la forêt de Thuringe, à une altitude de 500 mètres. Le village est marqué par son impressionnant château et son ancien établissement thermal d'eau froide. Le point de départ de la randonnée est le bassin de pédalage à la sortie du village dans la Steigerstraße. De là, on monte sur l'Alexandrinenhöhe, un ancien point de vue très apprécié sur le bassin de Thuringe. On contourne le Rumpelsberg par une grande boucle. Il est possible de faire un détour par la Hohen Warte, le Möchshorf et la Schöffenhaus, sans pour autant se rendre directement à ces lieux d'excursion.

The municipality of Elgersburg is located on the north side of the Thuringian Forest at an altitude of 500 meters. The village is characterized by the impressive castle and its former cold-water spa. The starting point of the hike is the treading pool at the end of the village on Steigerstraße. From there, the trail climbs up to the Alexandrinenhöhe, a former popular vantage point overlooking the Thuringian basin. The trail takes a wide loop around the Rumpelsberg. There are detours to the Hohe Warte, the Möchshorf and the Schöffenhaus, although these excursion destinations are not reached directly.

C'était autrefois un point de vue très apprécié. Entre-temps, il a été envahi par la végétation. Seul un monument rappelle sa popularité passée. Le chemin continue de monter. Le chemin mène au Rumpelsberg (799 m). C'est le plus haut sommet de la commune d'Elgersburg. Lorsque l'on atteint le Kirsthüttenweg, on le suit vers la droite en direction de "Hohe Warte". Le Rumpelsberg proprement dit est maintenant contourné en faisant un grand tour. La "Hohe Warte" est laissée sur la droite et le chemin mène maintenant en direction de "Mönchhof". Une fois la "Alte Straße" atteinte, il ne reste plus qu'environ 750 mètres jusqu'à l'auberge de montagne "Mönchhof". L'auberge (fermée le lundi et le mardi) ne se trouve pas sur l'itinéraire direct de la randonnée. Celui-ci mène sur la vieille route à gauche en direction de la "Marienquelle" et plus loin vers le "Steiger Eck". Au "Steiger Eck", le tour du Rumpelberg (799 m) est terminé et il faut redescendre par la vallée du Kohltal pour revenir au point de départ de la randonnée.

This leads along the old road to the left in the direction of "Marienquelle" and on to "Steiger Eck". The circuit of the Rumpelberg (799 m) ends at the "Steiger Eck" and the route leads downhill through the Kohltal valley back to the starting point of the hike.
