Aujourd'hui tu arrives dans la Lange Rhön. Depuis Oberweißenbrunn, tu te diriges d'abord vers le Himmeldunkberg. Du sommet, la vue s'étend largement sur la Hochrhön. Tu continues à travers une crête. Au parking Schwedenwall, les vestiges d’une fortification rappellent la guerre de Trente Ans. Au lieu de repos proche, le HOCHRHÖNER se divise en deux variantes. Ton chemin mène vers l'est par le Heidelstein sur un vaste plateau de basalte. Les vastes prairies de montagne de la Lange Rhön sont le résultat de défrichements médiévaux. En été, ici paît le mouton de Rhön, une ancienne race domestique à tête noire et pattes blanches. Un point fort est le Schwarzes Moor. Là poussent des plantes rares comme la rosée carnivore. Sur un sentier didactique en bois et depuis la tour d’observation, tu peux explorer la végétation unique de la plus grande tourbière haute de la Rhön. Avec un peu de chance, tu entendras l'appel du tétras lyre. En passant par d’anciennes frontières de la RDA, tu arrives au village thuringien de Birx. Today you will reach the Lange Rhön. From Oberweißenbrunn, you first go to the Himmeldunkberg. From the summit, you have a wide view over the High Rhön. You continue hiking over a ridge. At the Schwedenwall parking lot, remains of a defensive structure recall the Thirty Years' War. At the nearby rest stop, the HOCHRHÖNER splits into two variants. Your path leads east over the Heidelstein onto a long basalt plateau. The wide mountain meadows of the Lange Rhön are the result of medieval deforestation. In summer, the Rhön sheep, an old domestic breed with a black head and white legs, graze here. A highlight is the Black Moor. Rare plants such as the carnivorous sundew grow there. On a wooden educational trail and from the observation tower, you can explore the unique vegetation of the largest raised bog in the Rhön. With some luck, you hear the call of the capercaillie. Passing former border installations of the GDR, the route goes to the Thuringian village of Birx. Heute gelangst du in die Lange Rhön. Von Oberweißenbrunn geht es zunächst auf den Himmeldunkberg. Vom Gipfel bietet sich ein weiter Blick über die Hochrhön. Über einen Bergrücken wanderst du weiter. Beim Parkplatz Schwedenwall erinnern Überreste einer Verteidigungsanlage an den 30-jährigen Krieg. Am nahe gelegenen Rastplatz teilt sich der HOCHRHÖNER in zwei Varianten. Dein Weg führt ostwärts über den Heidelstein auf ein lang gestrecktes Basaltplateau. Die weiten Bergwiesen der Langen Rhön sind das Ergebnis mittelalterlicher Waldrodungen. Im Sommer weidet hier das Rhönschaf, eine alte Haustierrasse mit schwarzem Kopf und weißen Beinen. Ein Highlight ist das Schwarze Moor. Dort wachsen seltene Pflanzen wie der fleischfressende Sonnentau. Auf einem hölzernen Lehrpfad und vom Aussichtsturm kannst du die einzigartige Vegetation des größten Hochmoors der Rhön erkunden. Mit etwas Glück hörst du den Ruf des Birkhuhns. Vorbei an ehemaligen Grenzanlagen der DDR geht es ins thüringische Dorf Birx. Dazu verlässt man die Autobahn an der Ausfahrt 25 Bad Neustadt und fährt in Richtung Bad Neustadt auf die B279 auf. Dieser folgt man wenige Kilometer später und biet dazu rechts in Richtung Bischofsheim ab. Dieser Straße folgt man, bis man rechts nach Oberweißenbrunn abbiegen kann. Im Ort biegt man die dritte Straße links ab und erreicht dadurch den Kirchhofweg. In dieser liegt der Parkplatz auf Höhe der Freiwilligen Feuerwehr. Birx Birx kann über die A7 und die A71 angefahren werden. Die A7 verlässt man über die Ausfahrt 92 Fulda-Mitte und fährt auf die B458 in Richtung Hilders. An der T-Kreuzung im Ort Batten biegt man rechts nach Ehrenberg ab. Im Ehrenberger Ortsteil biegt man links ab in Richtung Hochrhönstraße. Unweit des Ortsausgangs kann man nach Birx abbiegen, welches man kurz später erreicht. Die A71 verlässt man über die Autobahnausfahrt 24 Mellrichstadt und fährt auf die B285. Diese Straße folgend fährt man über Mellrichstadt und Ostheim nach Fladungen. Nach der Ortsdurchfahrt von Fladungen biegt man links in Richtung der Hochrhönstraße ab. Dieser folgt man bis zur Abbiegung nach Leubach. In Leubach kann man nach Frankenheim abbiegen und in Frankenheim wiederum nach Birx. Kurz später hat man den Ausgangspunkt der Wanderung erreicht.

An der T-Kreuzung im Ort Batten biegt man rechts nach Ehrenberg ab. Im Ehrenberger Ortsteil biegt man links ab in Richtung Hochrhönstraße. Unweit des Ortsausgangs kann man nach Birx abbiegen, welches man kurz später erreicht.</p> <p>Die A71 verlässt man über die Autobahnausfahrt 24 Mellrichstadt und fährt auf die B285. Diese Straße folgend fährt man über Mellrichstadt und Ostheim nach Fladungen. Nach der Ortsdurchfahrt von Fladungen biegt man links in Richtung der Hochrhönstraße ab. Dieser folgt man bis zur Abbiegung nach Leubach. In Leubach kann man nach Frankenheim abbiegen und in Frankenheim wiederum nach Birx. Kurz später hat man den Ausgangspunkt der Wanderung erreicht.</p>
