Die Mühlenwanderung am Birkunger Stausee ist ein rund zwölf Kilometer langer Themenweg, der eindrucksvoll Natur, Geschichte und regionale Kultur verbindet. Entlang des Weges begegnet man historischen Mühlen wie der Rohrmühle, Bäckermühle, Mönchmühle, Eichmühle, Eckmühle, Obermühle, Aumühle und der geheimnisvollen Wendelröder Mühle – viele davon mit Wurzeln im Mittelalter. Schattige Waldwege, Fachwerkidylle, moderne Stationen wie Schwimmbad, Boulderblock und Spielplatz sowie sagenumwobene Orte wie der Widdeyborn und der Glockenborn machen die Tour besonders abwechslungsreich und familienfreundlich.

The mill hike at Birkunger Reservoir is an approximately twelve kilometer long themed trail that impressively combines nature, history, and regional culture. Along the way, you encounter historic mills such as the Rohrmühle, Bäckermühle, Mönchmühle, Eichmühle, Eckmühle, Obermühle, Aumühle, and the mysterious Wendelröder Mühle – many of them with roots in the Middle Ages. Shady forest paths, half-timbered idyll, modern stations such as a swimming pool, boulder block, and playground, as well as legendary places like the Widdeyborn and the Glockenborn, make the tour particularly varied and family-friendly.

La randonnée des moulins au lac-réservoir de Birkungen est un sentier thématique d'environ douze kilomètres qui combine de manière impressionnante la nature, l'histoire et la culture régionale. Le long du parcours, on rencontre des moulins historiques comme le moulin Rohrmühle, le moulin Bäckermühle, le moulin Mönchmühle, le moulin Eichmühle, le moulin Eckmühle, le moulin Obermühle, le moulin Aumühle et le mystérieux moulin Wendelröder – dont beaucoup ont des racines remontant au Moyen Âge. Es folgt die 2009 neu errichtete Mönchmühle, einst ebenfalls klösterlich genutzt. Ein Gefäßfund deutet auf eine Nutzung seit dem 13. Jh. hin.Wir verlassen den Asphaltweg nach Norden zur Eichmühle, einer einstigen Mahl-, Öl- und Sägemühle. Weiter geht es zur Eckmühle am Haderholz – 1786 erbaut, bis 1940 in Betrieb. Kurz darauf erreichen wir die Obermühle, einst „Ripperöder Mühle“, mit erhaltenen Mahlgängen aus dem 17. Jh. Wir passieren zwei Sportplätze und einen 2024 errichteten Boulderblock.Nach Querung der Straße Rüdigershagen biegen wir zum Lindenplatz mit der 2007 sanierten Halle ein. Dort lädt ein modernes Schwimmbad zur Rast ein – historisch war dies Lagerort von Müntzers Bauernheer 1525. Über die Kiesbrücke lohnt ein Abstecher zum neuen Spielplatz „Bei den Zwergen“, wo die Sage vom farbwechselnden Widdeyborn erzählt wird.Zurück auf dem Steinweg, gesäumt von denkmalgeschütztem Fachwerk, gelangen wir zur Marktbrücke. Hier lohnt ein Besuch des Marktplatzes mit Rathaus, Kirchen, Heimatstube und Biergarten. Weiter geht’s zur Aumühle, bis 1970 betrieben, heute leerstehend.Nach dem Seniorenheim „Am St. Josefshaus“ geht es über die Umgehungsstraße zur geheimnisvollen Wendelröder Mühle, Relikt des Dorfes Wendelrode. Nahebei liegt der sagenumwobene Glockenborn, aus dem nur eine Jungfrau an Silvester eine versunkene Glocke heben kann.

After the senior residence "Am St. Josefshaus," the path goes over the bypass road to the mysterious Wendelröder Mühle, a relic of the village of Wendelrode. Nearby is the legendary Glockenborn, from which only a virgin can lift a sunken bell on New Year's Eve.

schema:value @fr Le départ de la randonnée se fait au lac-réservoir de Birkungen. Après seulement 300 m, nous atteignons le moulin Rohrmühle, autrefois appartenant au monastère de Reifenstein. Après 600 m supplémentaires, sur la gauche, se trouve le moulin Bäckermühle avec une maison d'habitation datant de 1557. Ces deux moulins ont été arrêtés au début du XXe siècle. Suit le moulin Mönchmühle, reconstruite en 2009, également utilisée autrefois par le monastère. Une trouvaille d'un récipient indique une utilisation depuis le XIIIe siècle. Nous quittons le chemin en asphalte vers le nord pour rejoindre le moulin Eichmühle, ancien moulin à farine, à huile et à scie. Ensuite vient le moulin Eckmühle dans la forêt d'Haderholz – construit en 1786, en activité jusqu'en 1940. Peu après, nous atteignons le moulin Obermühle, anciennement « Ripperöder Mühle », avec des mécanismes de meunerie conservés datant du XVIIe siècle. Nous passons deux terrains de sport et un bloc d'escalade construit en 2024. Après avoir traversé la rue de Rüdigershagen, nous tournons vers la place Linden avec la salle rénovée en 2007. Une piscine moderne invite à la pause – historiquement, c'était un lieu de campement de l'armée paysanne de Müntzer en 1525. Une balade sur le pont de gravier vaut le détour jusqu'à la nouvelle aire de jeux « Chez les Nains », où la légende du Widdeyborn changeant de couleur est racontée. De retour sur le chemin pavé, bordé de maisons à colombages protégées, nous atteignons le pont du marché. Une visite de la place du marché avec l'hôtel de ville, les églises, le musée régional et la bière en plein air est recommandée. La randonnée continue vers le moulin Aumühle, en activité jusqu'en 1970, aujourd'hui inoccupé. Après la maison de retraite « Am St. Josefshaus », nous passons la route de contournement pour atteindre le mystérieux moulin Wendelröder, vestige du village de Wendelrode. Non loin se trouve le légendaire Glockenborn, d'où seule une vierge peut, le soir du Nouvel An, remonter une cloche engloutie.
