About: St. Nicolai Kirche Lauterbach

On 22 April 1700, the foundation stone of the St. Nicolai Church was laid, and the building was completed just one year later. The baroque church with pulpit altar, 2 galleries, organ and bell tower could be preserved in its original layout until today. The valuable altar of the Virgin Mary dates back to pre-reformation times. It is one of the most beautiful medieval works of art in Thuringia.

Am 22. April 1700 erfolgte die Grundsteinlegung der St. Nicolai Kirche, schon ein Jahr später wurde der Bau vollendet. Die Barockkirche mit Kanzelaltar, 2 Emporen, Orgel und Glockenturm konnte bis heute in ihrer ursprünglichen Anlage erhalten bleiben. Aus vorreformatorischer Zeit stammt der wertvolle Marienaltar. Er zählt zu den schönsten mittelalterlichen Kunstwerken in Thüringen.
