Der Zoo der großen Tiere liegt im Norden der Landeshauptstadt Erfurt auf dem Roten Berg und ist mit fast 63 Hektar der drittgrößte wissenschaftlich geleitete Zoo Deutschlands. Die Besonderheiten des Zoos sind die vielen großzügig gestalteten Anlagen, die dem natürlichen Lebensraum der Tiere nachempfunden wurden. Dabei nimmt die Gemeinschaftshaltung verschiedener Tierarten eine immer wichtigere Stellung ein. Einige Anlagen sind sogar begehbar, so dass die Besucher den Tieren direkt begegnen können. Der Thüringer Zoopark Erfurt setzt sich außerdem stark für den Artenschutz ein und nimmt an Zuchtprogrammen bedrohter Tierarten teil. La particularité du zoo réside dans ses nombreuses installations généreusement aménagées, inspirées de l'habitat naturel des animaux. La détention en communauté de différentes espèces animales y occupe une place de plus en plus importante. Certaines installations sont même accessibles, ce qui permet aux visiteurs de rencontrer directement les animaux. The zoo of large animals is located in the north of the state capital Erfurt on the Red Mountain and is with almost 63 hectares the third largest scientifically managed zoo in Germany. The special features of the zoo are the many generously designed enclosures, which were modeled on the natural habitat of the animals.
