Der Ortsteil Windehausen der Landgemeinde Stadt Heringen/Helme liegt inmitten der fruchtbaren Goldenen Aue und ist dementsprechend landwirtschaftlich geprägt. Das Dorf ist seit 1158 urkundlich belegt und bietet seinen Gästen Ruhe und Erholung. Ein Denkmal des Ortes ist der "Pomai Bog", das aus der Zeit der slawischen Wenden stammt. Die über 700 Jahre alte "Pieta" ist eine hölzerne Figur der Mutter Maria mit Jesus. Der Name "Pomai Bog", der allein schon aufhorchen lässt, hat den Windehäusern bei den Bewohnern der umliegenden Dörfer den Spitznamen "Pomaiböcke" eingetragen.
