Ce vaste parc de style romantique a été créé en 1782 à l'initiative du duc Georg Ier de Saxe-Meiningen. C'est un refuge pour le "petit repos" dans la ville et un parcours de l'histoire culturelle de Meiningen. Pendant les mois d'été, des concerts et des spectacles animent le parc. Dans la surface de l'étang se reflètent de vieux arbres, l'impressionnante architecture du théâtre, des ruines artificielles et le pont en arc de pierre. Les chemins serpentent de manière variée à travers le parc entre les groupes d'arbres, les prairies et les collines. La chapelle funéraire néogothique ainsi que les nombreux monuments ont été insérés dans le parc, de sorte que l'on peut y rencontrer de nombreux "esprits" qui ont écrit l'histoire culturelle de Meiningen, comme par exemple le monument à Max Reger, au musicien Hans von Bülows, le buste du poète Jean Paul et la fontaine Bechstein en l'honneur du poète de contes Ludwig Bechstein. Le monument le plus important a été dédié à Johannes Brahms. Brahms était très lié à la maison ducale et à l'orchestre de la cour. Deux ans seulement après sa mort, le monument fut inauguré avec le buste créé par Adolf von Hildebrand, devenant ainsi le premier monument dédié à Brahms en Allemagne.

The spacious park in a romantic style was laid out in 1782 at the behest of Duke Georg I of Saxe-Meiningen. It is a refuge for "little relaxation" in the city and a parcour of Meiningen's cultural history. In the summer months, concerts and performances enliven the park. Old trees, the impressive theater architecture, artificial ruins and the stone arched bridge are reflected in the pond's water surface. The paths meander through the park between groups of trees, meadows and hills. The neo-Gothic crypt chapel and the numerous monuments have been incorporated into the park, so that you can encounter many "ghosts" who wrote cultural history in Meiningen, such as the monuments to Max Reger, the musician Hans von Bülow, the bust of the poet Jean Paul and the Bechstein Fountain in honor of the fairy tale poet Ludwig Bechstein. The most important monument was dedicated to Johannes Brahms. Brahms was closely associated with the ducal family and the court chapel. Just two years after his death, the monument with the bust created by Adolf von Hildebrand was inaugurated, making it the first Brahms monument in Germany.

Die großzügige Parkanlage im romantischen Stil wurde 1782 auf Betreiben Herzog Georg I. von Sachsen-Meiningen angelegt. Er ist ein Refugium für die "kleine Erholung" in der Stadt und Parcours der Meininger Kulturgeschichte. In den Sommermonaten beleben Konzerte und Aufführungen den Park. In der Wasserfläche des Teiches spiegeln sich alte Bäume, die eindrucksvolle Theaterarchitektur, künstliche Ruinen und die steinerne Bogenbrücke. Vielfältig schlängeln sich die Wege zwischen Baumgruppen, Wiesen und Hügeln durch den Park. Die neogotische Gruftkapelle sowie die zahlreichen Denkmale wurden in den Park eingefügt, so dass man hier vielen "Geistern" begegnen kann, die in Meiningen Kulturgeschichte schrieben, so z. B. das Denkmal Max Regers, des Musikers Hans von Bülows, die Büste des Dichters Jean Paul und der Bechstein-Brunnen zu Ehren des Märchendichters Ludwig Bechstein. Das bedeutendste Denkmal wurde Johannes Brahms gewidmet. Brahms war dem Herzogshaus und der Hofkapelle aufs Engste verbunden. Bereits zwei Jahre nach seinem Tod wurde das Denkmal mit der von Adolf von Hildebrand geschaffenen Büste eingeweiht und war damit das erste Brahms-Denkmal in Deutschland.
