About: Moxa

Die Gemeinde Moxa liegt in einer Höhenlage von 430 m NN und hat eine Gesamtfläche von ca. 467 ha. Erstmalig wurde der Ort 1378 in Büchern erwähnt. Während des Dreißigjährigen Krieges brannte das alte Dorf völlig ab. Es wurde oberhalb der alten Siedlungsstätte als Anger-Platzdorf wieder neu angelegt. Der Name Moxa kommt aus dem sorbischen und änderte sich im Laufe der Jahre von Mugczow oder Moxzow zur heutigen Schreibweise Moxa. Moxa ist mit seinen derzeitigen 88 Einwohnern ein relativ kleines Dorf, dass aber in drei Richtungen vom Autoverkehr stark durchfahren wird. In Moxa befindet sich eine seismologische Station der Friedrich-Schiller-Universität Jena. Hier werden Aufzeichnungen über Erdbeben auf der ganzen Welt geführt und ausgewertet. Am Ortsausgang in Richtung Ranis befindet sich ein kleines Gewerbegebiet. Dort produziert die ortsansässige Firma Moxa Ligting GmbH vorwiegend Straßenbeleuchtungskörper und Stadtmöbilierung.

La commune de Moxa se situe à une altitude de 430 m NN et a une superficie totale d'environ 467 ha. Le village a été mentionné pour la première fois dans des livres en 1378. Pendant la guerre de Trente Ans, l'ancien village a été entièrement détruit par le feu. Il a été reconstruit au-dessus de l'ancien site d'habitation sous forme de village-rue. Le nom de Moxa vient du sorabe et a évolué au fil des années de Mugczow ou Moxzow vers l'orthographe actuelle Moxa. Avec ses 88 habitants actuels, Moxa est un village relativement petit, mais très fréquenté par les automobilistes dans trois directions. Moxa abrite une station sismologique de l'université Friedrich-Schiller de Iéna. Des enregistrements de tremblements de terre dans le monde entier y sont réalisés et analysés. À la sortie de la ville, en direction de Ranis, se trouve une petite zone industrielle. C'est là que l'entreprise locale Moxa Ligting GmbH produit principalement des corps d'éclairage public et du mobilier urbain.

The village of Moxa is situated at an altitude of 430 m above sea level and has a total area of about 467 ha. The village was first mentioned in books in 1378. During the Thirty Years' War the old village burned down completely. It was rebuilt above the old settlement site as an Anger square village. The name Moxa comes from the Sorbian and changed over the years from Mugczow or Moxzow to the present spelling Moxa. Moxa is a relatively small village with its current 88 inhabitants, but it is heavily traversed by car traffic in three directions. In Moxa there is a seismological station of the Friedrich Schiller University of Jena. Here records of earthquakes all over the world are kept and evaluated. At the end of the village in the direction of Ranis there is a small industrial area. There, the local company Moxa Ligting GmbH produces mainly street lighting fixtures and street furniture.
